Rolf Slotboom Ace Speaks:
Limit Hold-em Quiz

By Rolf Slotboom

You are playing in a typical $10-20 limit hold-em game, fairly tight and aggressive, blinds $5-10. The game is ten-handed and the rake is 5%, max. $3. You're playing in seat # 10. There?s a weak / tight player in seat # 1, a professional player in seat # 2 and a loose / aggressive player in seat # 7. All other players can be considered average or a little below average.

1) You're in the small blind with Kh 8h and have completed the blind. No raises, six people see the flop Jh 8d 5d. Seat # 2 bets and there is one caller. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
2) Same situation. This time everybody checks and seat # 8 bets. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
3) You're under the gun (first to act), holding As Jd. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
4) You're in the big blind with Ah 3h. There have been no raises, five people see the flop Td 8h 5h. You have checked and called the flop (seat # 4 has been the bettor) and all four remaining players have checked the turn (Ks). A third heart comes on the river (9h) and the small blind comes out betting. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
5) You're in the small blind with 7s 7c. Four people call the initial bet and the button raises to $20. Since it looks like the hand is going to be played seven-handed (giving you the right odds in trying to flop a set) you call, as do all others. The flop comes 9c 7h 2s. What do you do?
    check-if there's a bet*, fold.
    check-if there's a bet*, call (slowplay).
    check-if there's a bet*, raise.
    bet-if there's a raise*, fold.
    bet-if there's a raise*, call.
bet-if there's a raise*, reraise (*the most likely bettor / raiser being the button).
6) You're in the small blind, holding Ah Ks. Seat # 2 has raised, everybody has folded. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
7) Same situation. This time you hold Ah Kh. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
8) You're on the button with 3h 3c. Seat # 7 has raised, like he has done the last four pots in a row. There are no callers. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
9) You're in the big blind with Ah Jc. Seat # 8 has raised to $20. There are no callers, the small blind also folds. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
10) You're on the button with Ad Kd and have raised before the flop. Six players see the flop (Jd Td 3s). The blinds check, as does seat # 4. Seat # 7 bets into you and gets raised by seat # 8. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
11) You're on the button with 7c 6c. You have called before the flop only to see seat # 1 (the small blind) raise to $20. Five people see the flop which comes 8h 5c 2s. The small blind leads, seat # 8 calls and it?s up to you. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
12) Once again, you're on the button holding 7c 6c. Everybody has folded and it's up to you. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
13) You're one off the button with Jh Jc. Seat # 4 has raised to $20 and has been called by seat # 6. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
14) You're in the big blind holding Ah Jc. Seat # 4 has raised to $20, everybody has folded. What do you do?
    fold
    call
    raise
