As recognizable for his kind demeanor and down to earth attitude as he is for his incredible abilities at the card table, Daniel Negreanu has to many become the very personification of a successful professional poker player.

"If I was in charge [of the WSOP main event]," says Daniel. "The first thing I would do would be to raise the buy-in to either $50,000 or $100,000. The second thing I would do would be to change the format completely. I would change it from a typical tournament to a shootout style tournament."

An Interview With Annie Duke

Some professional poker players are quite easy to approach, others are quick to speak their mind, and even others use their prominent role within the realms of both poker and popular culture to make their voices heard. Annie Duke most certainly falls into all three categories.

After a professional career spanning 15 years, Annie has come to be known as one of the best female poker players in the world. However, when one considers that she has more than $1.5 Million in winnings and a World Series of Poker bracelet to her credit, one must simply consider her one of the best players, period, putting the "female" part aside.

"The mere fact that we have ladies only events suggests to me that people believe there is some fundamental difference in the minds of men and woman that causes a distinction to be made," said Annie. "When you're making that kind of a distinction, it tends not to be favorable to the group that's being singled out."

the Poker Poker Report (tPPR)

From a recent edition of tPPR, the general overview of a crime that started off as a robbery of over $100,000 from an underground game, and ended up with the death of a man. In an update to the story, straight from Poker Pages’ own fine staff, tPPR learns than an arrest of a man suspected of having played a part in the robbery turned murder of poker player Frank DeSana has been made. Apparently the suspect, William Delvalle, was caught not far from the very place where the robbery/murder transpired. Although he is being held without bail, the NYPD has stated that they do not think he pulled the trigger.
