Chip counts and seat assignments to follow. In 29th, Scott Lundberg tried the A 10 of Spades and ran into an A K. Playing hand for hand, the first day chip leader curse hits again. Ken Ford waited all day to lose the last of his starting 145k chips. He went all-in preflop with J 10 against the 7 5 of Spades. Ken made trip Jacks but got rivered for a straight and the dreaded bubble boy title. 9:05 Minh Nguyen had pocket 9's in the big blind and got all 34k of his chips in preflop. He was called by pocket 10's and 33k. With one thousand left, Nguyen won his first all-in then when out 31st. Three more to the money. Senthil Kumar and Barry Greenstein have doubled up in their all-ins. 8:15 Stan Goldstein had the A Q of Hearts and went all-in for 93k with two overcards and the nut flush draw. Arnold Spee had pocket 9's. "You have the best hand, but I'm the favorite," Stan said when he saw the 9's. When the pockets held up, Stan voiced his derision at Arnold's call. Now short stacked, Goldstein went all-in with pocket 10's against K Q. This time it was the overcards that hit. Stan was 33rd for trying to win the tournament rather than getting into the money. 15 minute break. The one hundred chips are coming off which will make it easier to do chip counts. Phil Ivey is the clear chip leader however with close to 500k. 7:45 Bad news for Chris and other fans of Chad Layne. He's out in 34th just short of the cash. Chad reraised all-in for his last 23k and the K 9 of Hearts from the small blind. The button reluctently called with the Q 4 of Hearts. You know what happens, a Queen on the river. Shandor Szentkuti should walk in front of buses for a while. In the most horrendous beat in recent tournament history, Shandor was on his way to winning the Bay 101 event a couple week ago. He had Danny Nguyen all-in on the flop drawing dead to running sevens. That's what came 7 7. Today in 35th, the beat seemed mild in comparison. But at least in the first one he got paid. Here Shandor went all-in with pocket 9's and found someone with pocket Kings. The flop comes A A 9. That's a lock, right? No King, no problem. How about an Ace on the river to counterfeit his pair. Ouch. Six to go. 7:05 Finally some meaningful poker. Four tables paying three. Aaron Katz and Arnold Spee both slammed the table for different reasons. "A two-outer." Katz screamed. Aaron had pocket Queens all-in against Arnold Spee's pocket Jacks. When a Jack hit the turn, technically it was a four-outer, but who's counting. A player who was at the same table as Phil Ivey during his rush called it "A typical Phil Ivey clinic." Stan Shreirer had pocket 7's all-in against A 9 from Phil. The flop comes A 9 9. John Murphy has Q J with a Jack on the flop. He "overbets his hand" and runs into Ivey's Aces. Like that. Phil has gone from 20k to 260k in about an hour and a half. The level after the dinner break is 400 ante, 1,500/3,000 blinds. The average stack is now 103,000. Still no pressure, but we're moving in that direction. Only Katz is missing from the name list below. 5:45 The legend grows. Phil Ivey has taken over this tournament. From around 20,000 in chips that he had when Dan Harrington doubled up against Phil, he's gone on a mind-numbing rush to destroy all in his path. Phil Ivey now has 250k and the chip lead. Meanwhile guys with good sized stacks are history. John Murphy and Nemad Medic took the medicine directly. 38 left paying 27. At the dinner break. Asmo Louis 100k Bloch Andy 170k Cernuto John 90k Goldstein Stan 120k Greenstein Barry 40k Harrington Dan 190k Ivey Phil 250k Katz Aaron 30k Keller Kevin 140k Kinney Michael 80k Kumar Senthil 20k La Hung 180k Layne Chad 25k Lili-Grinder Lili 34 Lili 100k Lundberg Scott 35k Ma Tony 60k Nguyen Minh 45k Rodman Blair 35k Spee Arnold 100k Tsiprailidis Chris 75k 3:35 Down to 50 paying 27. Dan Harrington is taking over the women versus former WSOP champs by getting Alexandra Vuong all-in with A K and an Ace on the flop. Dan had the other two aces. Now the only other woman is Lily Grinder Elviro. There are two women left with 58 players. Both are girlfriends of famous players. Lili Elviro is playing in "her first big tournament," according to Michael Mizrachi. Alexandra Vuong "has a good teacher," said one player--Barry Greenstein. Recent outs are Joe Awada, Chris Grigorian and the King of all Poker Media, Robert Williamson III. He had a film crew obsessing over his tournament performance. And he never had any chips to entertain them with. 1:55 With 72 left, paying 27 these are the people still in that I recognize. We down to 76 players as the first level of Day 2 ends. Next level 100 ante, 600/1,200 blinds. The average stack is 47,500. Matt Matros couldn't protect his presto from giant stacked David Sax and the 3 2 of Clubs. Runner runner clubs ended the poker entrepreneurs day. 12:35 No money is expected to change hands today, as we are supposed to play until there are 27 left. That's the money list. I don't think we should go too late the way this gang is gambling. What's $5,000 anymore?
