Steven Hohn wins!
![]() Steve Hohn Results
1:00 AM After 4.5 grueling hours of heads-up play, Steve Hohn made an incredible comeback from a 9:1 chip deficit and captured the bracelet. On the final hand, Wattel raised all in on the turn with (7s 6d) 9d 10s 7h. Hohn called with (6s Jh) Js 5h 8c. On 6th street, Hohn drew the 7d, and Wattel got the Ah. 7th street was dealt face down. Hohn caught his card and instantly turned it over: an irrelevant 2s. Wattel needed a 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or A to win. He peeked at the card, and dejectedly flipped up the 4s. Hohn's jacks beat Wattel's sevens, and Wattel was eliminated in 2nd place, winning $88,800. Hohn won the bracelet and $156,985. It was a brutal battle between two determined players, both of whom played hard throughout and never gave up. 12:40 AM Hohn just won another monstrous $250,000+ pot with a pair of aces. Chip Count Steve Hohn 455,000 Mike Wattel 150,000 12:30 AM Hohn just won a monstrous $248,000 pot, and became the new chip leader. (There's only $604,000 in play!) Wattel was showing two queens and a nine. Hohn had two nines on board, and the case nine in the hole. Chip Count Steve Hohn 340,000 Mike Wattel 265,000 12:25 AM Out of the last 20 hands played, only one has gone to 4th street. That's all you need to know. 12:15 AM Chip Count Mike Wattel 395,000 Steve Hohn 210,000 The chip count is basically what is was when heads up play began, over three hours ago. Nobody is giving up. It is a grueling match. 11:35 PM Wattel had Hohn on the ropes, but Hohn rallied by winning eight pots in a row. Chip Count Mike Wattel 423,000 Steve Hohn 181,000 Level ends. New level: $4,000 ante, $6,000 bring-in, $15,000-$30,000 limits 11:10 PM The game seemed pretty much deadlocked until the following hand: Hohn bet the whole way down with J 4 5 10, and Wattel called with apparent reluctance, showing 9 J 8 3. Hohn bet 7th street and was raised. He called, and Wattel showed (7 9 10) in the hole. Wattel's straight won the enormous $248,000 pot. Chip Count Mike Wattel 525,000 Steve Hohn 80,000 10:45 PM Chip Count Mike Wattel 340,000 Steve Hohn 265,000 The 100th hand of heads-up play was just contested. There have been 250 hand played at the final table. 10:30 PM Chip Count Mike Wattel 370,000 Steve Hohn 235,000 10:10 PM Chip Count Mike Wattel 345,000 Steve Hohn 260,000 9:50 PM New level: $4,000 ante, $4,000 bring in, $10,000 completion, limits $10,000-$20,000 Wattel won two big pots in a row, and finally did some serious damage to Hohn. Chip Count Mike Wattel 477,000 Steve Hohn 127,000 9:30 PM Chip Count Mike Wattel 365,000 Steve Hohn 239,000 I thought that the game would go more quickly after the bathroom break, but it doesn't seem to be accelerating. 9:05 PM Hohn makes up some ground and builds his stack to $270,000. Wattel has $325,000. Now that their stacks are so close, it's time for both players to take a bathroom break. 8:45 PM Wattel and Hohn have traded blows, with no significant gain by either player. There was one interesting hand in which Wattel folded two open aces, when Hohn had 2 3 5 7 showing. 8:30 PM Chip Count Mike Wattel 404,000 Steve Hohn 200,000 8:25 PM Ruck had a bad run and suddenly busted out. Ruck lost two huge hands to Mike Wattel: on the first, Wattel made aces full, and on the second, Wattel's 8844 beat Ruck's 7722. Down to about $20,000, Ruck got it in with (2h 2s) 8c 6d Qd against Steve Hohn's (8d 4d) 7d 7c 10s. Ruck failed to improve, and finished in third place, winning $51,440. 8:05 PM Chip Count Mike Wattel 225,000 Al Ruck 180,000 Steve Hohn 170,000 7:50 PM Play resumes. New level: $3,000 ante, $3,000 bring in, $8,000 completion, limits $8,000-$16,000. 6:35 PM Dinner break begins. Play should resume at around 7:45 PM - 8:00 PM. Chip Count Mike Wattel 225,000 Al Ruck 199,000 Steve Hohn 180,000 6:15 PM Paul moves all in against Al Ruck with (Ad Kd) Qs 5c. Ruck has a non-threatening board of 10s 4h. But Ruck has a little surprise: two fours in the hole. Paul fails to improve, and Ruck wins the pot, eliminating Paul in 4th place. Paul wins $39,525 for his 4th place finish. Chip Count Mike Wattel 220,000 Al Ruck 190,000 Steve Hohn 145,000 5:40 PM Chip Count Mike Wattel 200,000 Steve Hohn 190,000 Al Ruck 170,000 Jonathan Paul 65,000 Short stack Peter Phillips struggled for a while on the brink of elimination. First, nearly all in, Phillips rallied and scooped a large pot from Al Ruck. Ruck was unable to beat Phillips' 876 low and queen high. Then, Phillips was all in with A2433 against Paul's trip nines, but Phillips caught a perfect 5c on the river, giving him a wheel, scooping against Paul's unimproved trips. On his final hand, Phillips was all in with (9 4) 4 7 6 vs. Paul's (3 5) A 5 2. Phillips caught two bricks, and busted out in 5th place, winning $32,485. Al Ruck has persevered, but he seems to be the least aggressive player at the table. Paul seems frustrated and somewhat stubborn. Paul got scooped by Steve Hohn, when Paul called down Hohn, Hohn's board showing 3 4 2 4. Hohn scooped with (8 5 5) in the hole. Meanwhile, Mike Wattel (who is a high-stakes player, and also Cyndy Violette's boyfriend), is playing selectively while sitting comfortably in the lead, with $200,000 in chips. 4:55 PM End of level: $2,000 antes, $2,000 bring-in, $6,000 completion, $6,000-$12,000 limits. Chip Count Mike Wattel 236,000 Steve Hohn 136,000 Al Ruck 122,000 Jonathan Paul 61,000 Peter Phillips 44,000 4:30 PM Sheila Gralak was elimianted in 6th, winning $25,450. Chip Count Mike Wattel 265,000 Al Ruck 120,000 Steve Hohn 110,000 Jonathan Paul 65,000 Peter Phillips 40,000 3:45 PM Chip Count Mike Wattel 159,500 Steve Hohn 156,500 Al Ruck 137,000 Peter Phillips 93,000 Jonathan Paul 42,500 Sheila Gralak 15,000 Paul continues to struggle. Meanwhile, Ruck has become a contender. 3:30 PM Short stack Men Nguyen was finally eliminated in 7th. Nguyen could not gain any momentum today. He was all in with a 7-low draw and a pair of fours, against Hohn's queens and jacks. Nguyen milked the suspense by squeezing his last card very slowly, but he missed his draws and finished in 7th place, winning $20,035. 3:10 PM Wattel has increased his chip lead to about $170,000. Hohn has also built his stack, from $53,500 to about $140,000. Early leader Paul has struggled so far. He took a big hit when Phillips scooped a large pot from him, and Paul is now down to $75,000. D'Agostino survived several early all-ins, but was finally eliminated by Paul. D'Agostino moved in with kings showing and jacks in the hole. Paul had two fives showing, and a third one in the hole. D'Agostino finished 8th, winning $14,080. Short stack Men Nguyen survived a scare from Ruck. Nguyen moved in on 3rd with (Q 4) 4, Ruck called with (A 7) 2. Nguyen was disgusted when Ruck paired his ace on 5th, but Nguyen made trip fours on 6th and survived. However, Nguyen is still struggling, with less than $20,000. The limits have now increased: $1,500 ante, $2,000 bring in, $5,000 completion, limits $5,000 - $10,000. At these stakes, nobody can afford to get scooped in a large pot. Chip Count Mike Wattel 170,000 Steve Hohn 140,000 Peter Phillips 130,000 Jonathan Paul 85,000 Sheila Gralak 35,000 Al Ruck 20,000 Men Nguyen 10,000 Friday, 2:20 PM The final table has begun. $1,000 Ante, $1,500 Bring In, Limits $4,000-$8,000 Chip Count Mike Wattel 155,500 Jonathan Paul 151,000 Peter Phillips 74,000 Steve Hohn 53,500 Al Ruck 61,500 Men "The Master" Nguyen 43,500 Sheila Gralak 37,500 Giacomo D'Agostino 17,500 --------------------- Event # 14 Event: Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split Buy-in: $1000 Number of Entries: 595 Total Prize Money: $541,450

First scoop Ive seen. The ante has increased to 1000 with a 1500 bring in and the levels are 4K/8K 10:12 The players take a 15 minute break. I will have to give Men credit for his play. He had a King showing and Giacomo had an Ace showing and raised. This is first street. Men turns his hole cards over and shows another king after laying it down, and sure enough, Giacomo showed his Ace in the hole. Most of us would be hard pressed to do that I think. 10:10 For the 3rd and I am sure not the final time, Mike Wattel hammers Men into submission and takes more chips away from him. 10:00 Men loses another big pot. He is NOT a happy camper at all. 9:57 10 Brad Daughtery Brad never formed much of a hand when he started off with a pair of twos. His oppenent, Johnothan Paul started with two ladies and maintained the whole way through. 9:43 Mike Wattel just took 24K off Men Nguyen...and he was NOT happy about it. Can you say vocal??? 9:23 11 Jim Hagen He gets all in on a low draw and a flush draw and gets nothing. 9:11 Levels have increased to 1000 ante, 1000 low card bring in, 3,000 completion with 3K/6K 8:55 Payout: 1 $156,985 2 $88,800 3 $51,440 4 $39,525 5 $32,485 6 $25,450 7 $20,035 8 $14,080 9-10 $8,665 11-12 $6,495 13-14 $4,875 15-16 $3,790 17-24 $2,980 25-32 $2,165 33-40 $1,625 41-48 $1,355 12 Paul Darden 13 Huck Seed 14 John Mehaffey --6:55 Dinner break.
