The World Series of Poker 2005 is nearly here.......

With literally thousands of live and online poker players coming out of the woodwork for their one chance of fame, this World Series promises to be THE one to remember. With a capped entry of 6600 to the main championship event, it is going to be a truly amazing experience, especially for that one person that surives 6,599 others to be crowned 2005 World Series Champion and takes home $7,444,800.00.

Not only will we see all the poker greats, but prepare yourself to see people just like you and me to take their crack at millions of dollars. Stay tuned to PokerPages for 45 days of poker rock and roll!!

I just wanted to take some time to introduce you to the team behind the WSOP this year. I have had the privilledge and pleasure of working with these guys over the past months.

For Ken Lambert, poker is a family tradition. His father was a WSOP Tournament Director in the 70's. Ken started with The Horseshoe at a busboy but soon went onto greater things. Ken is more well known for his Directorship of the WPO (The World Poker Open) held in Tunica annually which is one of the largest and most prestigious poker events in the annual calendar.

As Assistant Tournament director of the Jack Binion World Poker Open in Tunica, MS. Johnny is a seasoned professional who has worked every position in poker since he became a dealer in 1999.

Robert has been with Harrah's for 9 years, and was table games manager at the Rio. He is well-trained and travelled and has worked poker tournaments in Russia, Middle East and South East Asia and is fluent in several languages.

Nolan Dalla

World Series of Poker Media Director - Nolan Dalla-According to hearsay, Nolan Dalla was born with a deck of cards in one hand and a linesheet in the other. Nolans career as a poker writer began in 1994, and he has written many many columns on poker strategy, gambling theories. Nolan is one of the most natural interviewers, with the ability to make his subject both relaxed and comfortable with his indepth questions.

2005 Inductees are...

Jack Binion

For over 50 years, the innovations and style of Jack Binion has led to unparalled success in the casino industry. Inherting the Horseshoe legacy from his father, Benny Binion, Jack developed the downtown Horseshoe Casino into a Las Vegas icon renowned for its high limits and generous odds - a reputation cemented when the Horseshoe first hosted thed World Series of Poker in 1970. Binion has always measured his success by satisfied customers who have remained loyal to all of his properties, including casinos in Bossier City, Louisanna, Tunica, Mississippi, Hammond, Indiana and Joliet, Illinois. In 1999, he sold these Horseshoe gaming properties to Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. Last summer, Jack Binion was deservedly inducted into the American Gaming Associations Gaming Hall of Fame. In September 2003, less than 10 years after starting the company, Binion entered into a contract to sell Horseshoe Gaming Holding Corp. and its properties to Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., for $1.45 billion. Once finalized, it would be one of the largest casino transactions ever. American Gaming Association



Crandell Addington
World-Famous poker ambassador and consistant high stakes winner. Crandell Addington enjoyed an extremely successful poker career from 1963 until he retired in the Mid 80's after playing against the games's biggest names. Described by Doyle Brunson as a "No Limit Hold'em Legend" and "one of the most colorful and greatest players of poker history." His even, polite demeanor earned him the 1973 World Series of Poker "Most Congenial Player" trophy. As one of 7 Texas gamblers who introduced Texas Hold'em to Nevada in the 60's, he won the first professional gamblers tournament in Reno, the forerunner of the World Series of Poker. In 1985, at the request of Benny Binion, Addington served as the official poker ambassador to Great Britain, resulting in a tremendous increase in Texas Hold'em's popularity abroad. In addtion to the above Crandell also one of the main investors in Phoenix Biotechnology. The companies main product is Anvirzel, a powder derived from the flowering Oleander plant and now being use in the treatment and suppression of some forms of Cancer.

SATELLITE AND SECOND CHANCE TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Turn $50 Into Millions satellites are single-table No Limit Hold’em satellites that award the last two player’s remaining a $225 buy-in to a Super Satellite (see below). Buy-in is $50. Turn $50 into Millions satellites are held daily through July 4th. Tables are located in the Single table satellite area of the Amazon room. There is no need to register, simply pay your buy-in at the table.

Single Table Satellites offer players the chance to win entry into a gold bracelet event by winning a one-table tournament. The winner of a Single Table Satellite receives tournament buy-in chips plus cash. Single Table Satellites for any particular tournament are usually played during the 24-hour period immediately preceding the start of that tournament. Single table satellites for all WSOP events run 24 hours a day until the start of the World Championship Event on July 7, 2005 in the Single Table Satellite area in the Amazon Room at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino. There is no need to register, simply pay your buy-in at the table.


Super Satellites are multi-table tournaments offering multiple players the chance to win a $10,000 seat in the World Championship Event. Buy-in is $225, and multiple $200 rebuys are allowed during the first three levels of play. Prize pool money for each Super Satellite is converted into as many $10,000 seats as possible and play ends when there are as many players remaining as there are seats to be awarded. Super Satellites run daily in the Amazon room at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino at 3:00pm and 7pm between June 2nd and July 4th, Super Satellite registration begins approximately two hours prior to the start time of each Super Satellite at the Cashier counter. You must register and have a WSOP Players card. If you have a WSOP Players Card already you may proceed directly to the cashier.

$1,060 Mega Super Satellites (no rebuys) are scheduled on July 5th and 6th at 10am, 3pm and 8pm. Prize pool money for each Mega Super Satellite is converted into as many $10,000 seats as possible and play ends when there are as many players remaining as there are seats to be awarded. Mega Super Satellite registration begins approximately two hours prior to the start time of each Mega Super Satellite at the Cashier counter. You must register and have a WSOP Players card. If you have a WSOP Players card already you may proceed directly to the cashier.


Second Chance No Limit Hold’em Tournaments are held nightly at 11:00 pm from June 2nd through July 4th. Buy-in is $225 with no rebuys, and all prizes are awarded in cash. Players do not have to play in the same day’s bracelet event to be eligible to play the nightly second chance event. Registration begins at 8:30pm at the Cashier counter in the Amazon room. You must register and have a WSOP Players card. If you have a WSOP Players card already you may proceed directly to the cashier.
