It all feels so established now and it's hard to believe that in January 2004 44-48 Clerkenwell Road, London EC1 was an empty disheveled two floors which only the very optimistic could ever see being turned into the busiest and friendliest poker club, in Europe if not the World. Where did it all go, right?
Nearly 5000 members in its first year and more money given out in tournament prizes than anywhere else we know of, not to mention the outstanding volumes of food and drink consumed in the pursuit of a good night out. Simply the best when it comes to Card Rooms, and if you don't believe it then get yourself down there and find out!
We open at mid-day for food, drink and internet activities before the card action takes over from 5pm during the week and at 1 pm on weekends. The dress code is simple; all men must wear a top and every one must wear bottoms along with some form of footwear, other than that the only rule is you are not allowed to smell badly.
When you arrive, sign up for your free membership and tell one of the staff your name. They'll do the rest by introducing you to any member who is not pre-occupied with a pre-flop raise or some such nonsense.
Remember, once you become a member it's your club so respect it and be welcoming to any new member you meet because they could end up winning the World Series one day.
