There have been some changes in the lobby: you can now use the drop down boxes to select your type of game.
The method of entering the single tables satellites has been changed: The buy-in money is taken from your account when you join the event, therefore always going off with the full 10 players.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by us having to upgrade the server for this new change to be implemented, but we are sure that you will all be much happier with the results.

We are still awarding Poker Dollars, but this time it is a slightly different system. You play in the Fun Play area and your play in the tournaments is calculated and included in a ranking system (20 games per month).
The top 3 players on the ranking system at the end of the month win, 3 months, 2 months, and 1 month respectively in PokerSchool Online.
For more information on the latest Poker Dollars promotion, click here.
If you are already a PokerSchool member, then you can also participate in the Fun Play tournaments. If you win then, the time will be added onto your existing membership.
Old Poker Dollars Program
If you still have Poker Dollars that you have not yet claimed for tournament play in a live casino, don't worry: They are valid for a year from their issue date. These can be claimed at a casino or cardroom of your choice for a tournament buy in or you can use them for membership time in the PokerSchool.

Where I'm Going, Where I've Been
By Ricky Stern
I'm getting ready for yet another trip out to Las Vegas; even though my mother has repeatedly told me that I am a loser for going out to the desert all by myself for five days, I don't think she understands what playing poker seriously is all about. Of course, I don't mean playing poker for serious money; law students aren't famous for our hefty bankrolls. I mean playing poker seriously -- being serious about every decision and being serious not about winning or losing, but about making sure that whatever happens, at least you offered up your best game.
My mother's view is that Las Vegas is a vacation destination like any other, where the fun is increased exponentially with every new person to share the ride; in fact, as we all know, any true poker trip can't be enjoyed with anyone else unless they are as involved a poker player as you are.
Imagine traveling with a blackjack player, someone who wants to see the sights, or even (gasp!) a slots player. It's not the case, such as in other gaming situations, where getting up and moving along really makes no difference. The shoe, no matter what casino pit mythology teaches, is a cold and unfeeling adversary; the wheel spins on without memory. The only game where your possible victory changes with every different line-up of opponents is our beautiful game.

A Poem: The Limit Tourney
By Pokerwidow1
The limit tourney was set for 6 O'clock
As they signed on I took their stock
I went to the rank table to see their place
Since we are online and not face to face.
I checked my notes to see how they played
Player by player, what insights had I made?
Were they loose, aggressive or did they play tight?
Every tourney I play is one heck of a fight.
The tourney now starts, our seats we can't pick
But we take our mouse and get ready to click.
It finally came down to one last table.
Who had made it, which had remained stable?

Rebekah Emmons
Well since my last report in the newsletter of the 7th things have been very quiet.
Rebekah Emmons ran off with this year's Winnin' O' the Green Points Championship by winning the $100 Omaha hi-lo event, and also making the final tables in $100 7-card stud and $300 Limit hold'em. The 2002 All-Around Title Holder is truly an all-around player! This lovely lady, who already has a clutch of titles from other casinos, continues to add to her own reputation.
Congratulations to you, Rebekah! We all hope you enjoy your well-deserved prize of $7,500. And in the final event - which was a No Limit Hold'em - we saw George Muradyan take 1st Place and the winning prize of $8,620.
The CardPlayer Cruise ship took sail to the Mexican Riviera with 139 entrants on board, all trying to win the 1st prize of 1 million dollars. Well I am delighted to announce that Kathy Liebert was the first lady to win not only the title but walk away with a cool million dollars from her experience.

The St Patrick's day celebrations were in full swing at Oceans Eleven with the added bonus of a Poker Tournament - Nicola Crivello won $7,750 for 1st place out of 190 entrants all paying the $120 buy-in.
The Player of the Year Tournament was held at The Reno Hilton, and was won by Mark Boortz and he took home $4,500.
The Sport of Kings Tournament gets underway at The Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood on the 22nd March and runs until the 31st. And there is yet another one of those RGP get togethers, this time at The Tropicana in Atlantic City. The Bike has a Hi-Lo Weekend at the end of March and then the Northern California Poker Championship starts at The Casino San Pablo on March 30th with a guaranteed prize pool of $180,000 and a best all around player award. The New England Poker Classic starts at Foxwoods on April 3rd.
The Luck be a Lady at The Bicycle Casino which was scheduled for April 4th - 8th has been cancelled for this year only, and also the King of the Jungle, which was meant to take place at Oceans Eleven in April has also been cancelled.
Until we meet again for the April 7th newsletter, be lucky, be safe and take care,

Poker in Europe By Tina Napolitano

The winner of the European World Series of Poker from The Concord Card Casino was Martin Aigner from Austria and he took home 74,700 Euros for the 1st place.
It is amazing and very nice to see that out of the 10 players that got to the final table that 9 of them were representing different countries. This just goes to show that Poker is becoming truly global. To find out who won the other events, click here. The Aviation Club in Paris kicks off their Spring Tournament on April Fools Day (April 1st) and this will run until 14th April.
But for the rest of April the focus of the poker events will be in either the UK or the USA with the start of the WSOP and many other American events.
So until next time around for the newsletter I will sign off for Europe saying that your next event will be The Card Triathlon at Casinos Austria in Saltzburg on April 25th - 27th.

Poker in the UK and Ireland By Tina Napolitano

Well I am sure that many of you are still shell shocked at the sudden decision to postpone the Poker Million. What a sad day that was not only for all the organizers that had spent many many long days and nights putting the finishing touches to what promised to be another great poker event but also to the many poker players that had marked it in their calender to attend.
It is still a great concept and one that I feel will surface again in the right time and place in the future. The British Open is well under way and they have added a big event onto the back end to compensate some of the bigger players that will be in town.

Simon Trumper
Actually I am really excited as Mark and I are hoping to be present in The Vic ourselves on Friday night, so if you are planning to be there then please stop by and say hello, it is always so nice to put faces to the name of players and people that frequent PokerPages and of course PokerSchool Online. Congratulations To Simon Trumper (one of the nicest poker players from the UK) for his win in Vienna and I hope that this can be repeated in London.
March in the Midlands from the Grosvenor Casino in Walsall was a success and you can see who won what by clicking here.
The Great Britain Hold 'em Championships from The Rainbow Casino starts on April 8th and runs until the 14th and then the Spring Fest starts in Luton on the 15th and runs until the 21st.
Well have to go and get my Fish and Chips for lunch...what a luxury after so many pizza's and burgers. Until next time, take care and be lucky,

Poker Down Under By David Parlor
With only one month to go The New Zealand Poker Championship is not far away and already some tournaments are close to selling out. Most of the Aussie tournament players are planning on making the trip across the Tasman as well as a large group of Crown Poker Room Staff who fancy their chances amongst some of Australasia's best.
Flights to New Zealand from Melbourne are currently available through Beth Owen at STA Travel for $629 + Tax. This is the lowest price that I have seen to date and she has told me that there are only a few left at this price so book early. Beth may be contacted on (03) 9639 2277.
One notable exclusion from the group of Aussie's making their assault on The NZ Championship's is Sam "The Colonel" Korman who has decided to chase bigger fish and will be in Vegas playing in the WSOP events at Binions. I am sure that he will not be the only Aussie there and I know that all of his fellow players from Melbourne wish him the best of luck and expect to see his name on a final table.
Crown continues with the regular Thursday and Sunday tournaments leading up to the final series to be held in the beginning of April. Many players are still in competition for the top 10 placing and this is likely to be the case right up until the last week of this series. A beginner's tournament will be held on Wednesday 27th March and is open to any player that has taken part in Crown's recent Learn To Play Poker Sessions and has a small entry fee of $25. The last Saturday of the month has been reserved for satellites for the lead up to The Australasian Championship in January 2003 and will be run from 12:30 pm and throughout the afternoon if demand exists.
For any questions about Poker in Australia please email me.
