There have been some changes in the lobby: you can now use the drop down boxes to select your type of game.
The method of entering the single tables satellites has been changed: The buy-in money is taken from your account when you join the event, therefore always going off with the full 10 players.
This week we will be introducing our ring games for testing in PokerSchool.

We are still awarding Poker Dollars, but this time it is a slightly different system. You play in the Fun Play area and your play in the tournaments is calculated and included in a ranking system (20 games per month).
The top 3 players on the ranking system at the end of the month win, 3 months, 2 months, and 1 month respectively in PokerSchool Online.
For more information on the latest Poker Dollars promotion, click here.
If you are already a PokerSchool member, then you can also participate in the Fun Play tournaments. If you win then, the time will be added onto your existing membership.
Old Poker Dollars Program
If you still have Poker Dollars that you have not yet claimed for tournament play in a live casino, don't worry: They are valid for a year from their issue date. These can be claimed at a casino or cardroom of your choice for a tournament buy in or you can use them for membership time in the PokerSchool.

Where I'm Going, Where I've Been Part II
By Ricky Stern
When I graduated from high school, all the seniors got neat pages in the yearbook which we could customize. My best friend Moe chose as his senior quote "Dost thou know the difference, my boy, between a bitter fool and a sweet fool?" As we all know, this is from Shakespeare's King Lear. If I wanted to sound incredibly insightful and intelligent, I'd tell you that I knew right away why he chose this particular quotation, and the deep meaning that it held in his life.
I'm not going to lie to you; I still have no idea why he chose it. Driving around today, however, I started to think about the enigmatic quotation and what meaning it might hold in the poker world we inhabit. Suddenly, it made some sense.
Let me describe a moment which we all know well; that one second between when our hands touch the cards and our eyes process the little markings on the gifts the dealer sent us; it is Chanukah every three to four minutes, the wonderfully kinetic moment when what we hold is filled with nothing but potential, when everything is A-K suited. But, just like Chanukah, sometimes you get the sweet new home entertainment center, sometimes your mom gives you a silverware set. In the same sense, A-K suited in your mind's hopeful eye can quickly turn into 9 - 2 offsuit. Which I'll get back to.

Mark and I have returned from an extended trip to Europe, so sorry for the newsletter being a day late. Wow I am delighted to see not only the amount of events that have taken place during our absence, but the amount of events that there are to choose from for the remainder of April.
Of course it goes without saying that everyone's focus is on the WSOP which starts on the 9th of April with a week of Gin and Hearts tournaments. We hope that we will have the opportunity to meet many of you there.
Well let's look at who won what since the 21st of March when the last newsletter was sent out:
The Sport of Kings took place at Hollywood Park from March 22nd thru 31st. The first $50 buy -in event with a $25,000 guaranteed was won by Albert Shim and he took home $16,320. The 2nd $25,000 guaranteed event for a $100 buy-in was won by Steven Suh and he was made $12,765 richer for his first place finish, and the 3rd $25,000 event was won by Tony Grand and he got $11,185.
 |
| Jorge Cruz |
The brief 2 day Rat Pack tournament came and went at Ocean's Eleven, the first event was a $7,500 Guarantee for a $100 buy-in and the 2nd $100 buy-in event guaranteed $10,000. 'Mobil' Ray Chaaban took home $3,400 from the 1st event, and Phil Boyle took home $4,620 for winning the 2nd event.
At Large took place in Atlantic City with Mike Keohan winning the first No Limit Hold'em event and Bruce Kramer winning the Limit Stud Event.
The Northern California Poker Championship has just finished at Casino San Pablo and the best all-round player was Jorge Cruz. To see who won the other events please click here.
The New England Poker Classic is still underway at Foxwoods. There has been a great turnout of players for all the events and you still have time to take in one of the remaining tournaments as it doesn't end until the 14th.
 |
| Robert Jordan |
Joseph Marttine from Ridgefied, NJ won the first event with 413 entrants and took home $28,764. Charely Brahmi from Atlantic City won the 2nd event which was a Limit Hold 'em and he got $32,472. Robert Jordan took 1st in event #3 and won $25,212 and John Lahoud from Newport, RI won the 7-Card Stud and took home $27,650.
For the remainder of April we have the Seniors on the River, Shooting Stars from Bay 101 -- which is always great fun as well as good poker. There are many casinos still offering the chance to win WSOP seats and on top of that the Bellagio is starting it own tournaments, with a $10,000 buy-in event.
So until we meet again in the April 21st newsletter, take care, be safe and be lucky

| Ron Rose |
Spring is in the air in Europe and especially at The Aviation Club where they are hosting the Spring Tournament. The final 2 day event is on Saturday April 13th, so there is still time to exchange your Pounds for Euros and hop on the channel tunnel train and participate in the 2000 Euro No Limit Hold'em event.
The winner of the 2 Day No Limit Hold'em freezout was Ron Rose from the USA and he took home 33,000 Euros (approx $33,000).
The next major event that is taking place in Europe is the Card Triathlon from Casinos Austria in Saltzburg. At this time I don't have the schedule but I am sure that we will receive it in the next few days. This takes place from April 25th - 27th.

As I mentioned earlier in my USA section, Mark and I have just returned from a trip to Europe, which included popping into the Vic and saying hi to many of the UK/European poker players. Mark was particularly delighted to catch up with all of his old poker buddies that still frequent the Vic on a regular basis, as he did when we lived in England. In fact it was a standing joke in our family that no matter how hard I tried to get our car to turn left on the M1 it would always go right and make its way to the Vic.
The Poker area at the Vic was full to capacity and they had set up some tables upstairs for the overflow from the tournament. Jeff and Brian run the events with professionalism but still manage to keep their sense of humor and make it a very enjoyable venue for the players that decide to visit.
There was a slight confusion when we arrived as they couldn't find out if Mark was still a member, but not to worry -- there were many players standing by to sign us in for a great evening. I would like to say a special thank you to Jenny Kaye for making the trip to meet us, it was nice to see you again and catch up. Surinder, thank you for your hospitality and great to chat with you, Devil fish. If you ever get bored of the new watch then I do know a good home that it could go to.
Very nice to put a face to the email and meet in person with David Young and I am sure that we can look forward to many more of his interesting articles in the not too distant future. David, if you have not emailed Mark yet then please make sure that it is on the top of your to do list.
Must not forget a big huge thank you goes to Chris "Barracuda" who supplied the humorous and very informative reports from all of the British Open events. I am sure you will be hearing much more from him in the future, and you will get to witness photos of the players if he can work out his new digital camera soon.
Well onto the winners of this event -- C Khajuria from England won £15,105 for the 2 day 7-Card Stud event, Simon Eastwood won the Pot Limit Hold'em event and £38,690.
 |
| Ben Roberts - 3rd Place |
David Barnes took home a whopping £50,920 for the 2 day No Limit Hold'em event and Lally Khajuria won the Omaha event and the £43,320 prize. Phillip Marmonstein won the other No Limit Hold'em event along with £31,920.
The additional event that was added to the end of the tournament schedule was the Jubilee Cup (as it is the Queen's Golden Jublilee this year) which was won by Alan Vinson with £78,660. Ross Boatman came in second with £43,410 and 3rd place went to a true gentleman to poker, Ben Roberts. He took home £26,910.
The Great Britain Hold 'em Championships start today at The Rainbow Casino in Birmingham and they will run until the 14th. Then there is the Spring Fest from The Grosvenor Casino in Luton from the 15th - 21st.
Well until we meet again next time in the 21st April newsletter, I hope that both Mark and I will have lost the several additional pounds that we put on while on our eating binge to the UK. It just seemed like an non ending stream of delights that we had not tasted in a long time -- Walls sausages for breakfast, fish and chips for lunch and of course the Chicken Tikka Marsala for dinner, washed down with 15 cups of PG Tips per day.
It was great to be there and meet everyone, so until next time around, take care, be safe and be lucky.

The Thursday night tournament series has just reached its conclusion at Crown Casino and 12 lucky players have qualified for next Thursday's freeroll. The freeroll will be Limit Holdem and will begin at 6pm. Series 2 will begin at 8pm and after the success of the first series I am sure will attract a lot of interest. It is likely to be limited to 70 entrants, so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.
The New Zealand Championships are fast approaching, due to begin on the 21st April. This event has attracted a lot of interest from many of the players and staff at Crown who have made plans for their assault. As casino staff in Australia are not permitted to play in the casino that they are employed by, more than 18 Poker starved Crown employees will be making the journey across the Tasman. Last year their efforts were reasonable and I am expecting to see many of them taking their seats at final tables during the week. Seats in the Limit Holdem have almost sold out and I suggest that anyone planning on playing in this event contact bev@chchcasino.co.nz
Players on the Aussie tournament trail will then have to wait until early June for their next fix of major tournament action at the Melbourne Poker Championships. This event will also include a couple of satellites for the Aussie millions in January 2003 with an entry fee as low as $200 for this 10 K event.
