We are still awarding Poker Dollars, but this time it is a slightly different system. You play in the Fun Play area and your play in the tournaments is calculated and included in a ranking system (20 games per month).
The top 3 players on the ranking system at the end of the month win, 3 months, 2 months, and 1 month respectively in PokerSchool Online.
For more information on the latest Poker Dollars promotion, click here.
If you are already a PokerSchool member, then you can also participate in the Fun Play tournaments. If you win then, the time will be added onto your existing membership.
Old Poker Dollars Program
If you still have Poker Dollars that you have not yet claimed for tournament play in a live casino, don't worry: They are valid for a year from their issue date. These can be claimed at a casino or cardroom of your choice for a tournament buy in or you can use them for membership time in the PokerSchool.

James Bucci Sr.
In the last newsletter we covered some of the New England Poker Classic so I will go onto to mention some of the names that won the final events from Foxwoods. In Event #5 Vitha Satish took home $28,390 for his $500 buy-in to this No Limit Hold 'em event. Robert Gerstenzang won the Limit Hold'em event #6 along with $21,351 for $300 buy-in. Event #7 was the Omaha Hi/Lo and Raymond Mordekhai from Great Neck, NY took home $18,326.
A great guy in Poker James Bucci Sr. took 1st place in Event #8 -- the $300 buy-in Nol Limit Hold 'em event.
David Pacheco won the 7-card Stud event Hi/Lo #9 and also $17,500 to add to his bankroll, and Michael Borsetti had a big smile on his face as he placed in the 1st position in event #10. Robert Ferdinand from Revere, MA took home a nice $24,650 for his 1st place finish in the Limit Hold'em with a $500 buy-in.
The winner of the main and final event was Paul Darden from New Haven, CT and he was pleased as punch with his $72,590 to take home.

Bay 101 as per usual has a great Shooting Stars event and that was won by Bernard Ko from Sunnyvale and he not only gets a very nice prize of $66,825, but included in that money is a $10,000 seat to the main event of the WSOP. May we wish you luck.
The first ever poker tournament at The Bellagio was a huge success and David Levi won the 1st prize of $159,468 for a $3,000 buy-in for this No Limit Hold'em event. There were 137 entrants for this 3 day No Limit Hold 'em Freezeout.
The Bellagio will be having these events every month and next month they are having their first ever $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold'em event. What a great site to see, all these new big events being put on the Poker Calender.
I am sure that very soon the World Poker Open and The Commerce will follow suit with the $10,000 buy-in and the numbers of entrance for these events will just keep on growing. Hopefully one day soon it will be one of our very own PokerSchool members that takes home a championship title.
The Seniors on the River produced 3 winners that will be going to the Seniors at the World Series of Poker -- They are Carol Hale, Patrick Mackle and Hugh Pendley. Oklahoma Johnny Hale announced:
"I have made a deal with The Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to be the New home of 'The Seniors'------They are going to give 'The Seniors' an open house August 4-11, 2002 and they are going to be hosting a full week of 'The Seniors' Tournaments."
So we are delighted that The Seniors is finally here to stay.
The Reno Hilton are having a series of Challenge tournaments with qualifiers every month going through to play in the Challenge Tournament in December.
But all eyes are now on the World Series of Poker and with the first 3 events getting off to a flying start. It looks as if the main event might break even last year's record of 613. The first event was the Casino Employee's event and produced 272 entrants with the winner taking home $47,300.
I will not print the names of the winners in this newsletter as it may spoil the fun of watching the delayed streaming video that you can see from the final table everyday on www.PokerPages.com. There are 3 cameras catching all the action as it happens, one on the flop, one on the players and one on the atmosphere of the room. Tune in daily to see what you are missing.
You can also read the daily results and reports as soon as they are released by the WSOP here at www.PokerPages.com. We are delighted that our very own Mark Napolitano has been appointed to be the MC of the events and you will hear his voice along with other celebrities on the daily coverage. Barracuda (Chris Newton) will also be taking photos for PokerPages and we will upload those daily to the website.
So if you cannot make it to the WSOP this year, sit back in the comfort of your own home or office and tune in. If you do have any problems getting the streaming video please email support@pokerpages.com
Well until the next newsletter be safe, be lucky and take care.

The Spring Tournament at The Aviation Club did not see as many numbers as it has in the past, maybe so many choices these days. However those that attended as per usual had a great time.
The Main Event which was a No Limit Hold'em produced a 1st place finisher from France. Roger Hairabedian took home the 32,490 Euros and Teddy Tuil from Israel came 2nd with 16,240 Euros. Our very own Bill Marczak that appears in this newsletter was 3rd - many congratulations.
The next major event is on May 10th and 11th, and you will find it at the Casinos Austria in Seefeld, where they are hosting the Poker Spring Party. Then the trail takes you to The Torneo De Poker from The Hit casino in Slovenia, which starts on May 27th.
Other than those 2 events I guess all eyes are on Vegas right now and Binion's, where the next World Series Champion will be crowned.

The Great Britain Hold'em Championships which was brought to you from The Rainbow in Birmingham was a huge success and The Rainbow is certainly putting its name on the calendar for any event that they hold in the future.

Jack Arama
It is also a pleasure to work with a casino in the UK that has final gone onto email. It makes getting the results so much easier and faster. The main event which was a £200 buy-in which attracted 150 entries saw Jack Arama taking the first place prize of £19,000 home with him. K Murad came 2nd with £15,000.
The Spring Fest also proved to be very popular and the main event which was a £1,000 No Limit Hold'em tournament produced Nicky Katz as the winner, with £16,750. Samir Jabak came in 2nd and Gary Solomons, someone who we know very well, came in 3rd with £10,000. So I guess we will see you at the WSOP.

Gary Solomons
The next event to look out for will be the Dundee May Poker Festival which will be held at the Gala Casino in Dundee from May 1st - May 6th.
Also on May 23rd through to May 26th there will be the Irish Open held at The Colossus in Dublin, under the wing of Liam Flood. The Grosvenor in Southampton will host the South of England Poker Festival starting May 26th - May 28th.

Moscow Report
Russia's first ever Poker Conference was held in Moscow from the 2nd to 4th of April. Delegates from casinos throughout Russia were in attendance, as well as from Finland & the Baltic countries where poker is a fledgling industry.
Surprisingly, there were 7 delegates from various casinos in Siberia, so maybe it's not so bad to be sent to Siberia anymore. As ever, "Bendigo" Sloan was a polished & professional presenter, & he has firmly established his credentials here in Russia where numerous regional casinos are now eagerly bidding for his services.
"Bendigo" has offered a training course to poker management in Russia, & it looks very much like we are going to see a real poker revolution here, with casinos ready to adopt international standard practices in casino poker management. "Bendigo" even took time off to participate in the Dealer's Choice event on the Sunday night, finishing 2nd & showing us that he can play a bit too.
Results of the "Moscow Trio" of tournaments held from 5-7th April were as follows:

Last week Crown Casino held its two events to win a 10 K seat in the Aussie Millions to be held in Melbourne early in 2003. The two lucky winners were Ken Eastwood (who once opened the batting for Australia, perhaps he should be a part of the Ashes Poker Team next year) and Wilson Huang. Both of these players earned their seats by playing in the small weekly tournaments and accumulated an aggregate point total in the top ten players for either the Thursday or Sunday tournaments.
Series two has just started with the first tournaments being run this week. If you ever wanted to play in a 10 K event but thought the price was too high, here is your chance. This tournament is likely to have a 1 million dollar prize pool and won't have Eddie asking you to phone a friend or ask the audience, although I'm sure many railbirds will give you the answer later. If only I could play, this would be a permanent fixture on my Poker calendar.
The news of the moment is of course the New Zealand Poker Championships which begin this past weekend. The first event, $300 Limit Holdem sold out and other tournaments are close to filling. My interest of course lies with many of the staff from Crown who fancy themselves as players. The tournament will run until Saturday the 27th with the final $1,200 No Limit Holdem event. Super Satellites will be held regularly throughout the tournament week and are sure to prove popular. Please check the tournament results page for updated results during the week.
For any questions about Poker in Australia please email me.
