Poker In Europe Kevin Pratt of PokerPages writes about Poker in Europe
The Moscow Open concluded with Sergey Zharkov winning the $300 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo ($10,511), Andrei Mitropolski winning the $1500 No Limit Hold'em ($21,021) and World Heads Up Champion Kirill Gerasimov winning the $500 Pot Limit Omaha ($12,740).
Some of the players moved on from Moscow to The Taleon Club in St Petersburg for the European Nations Poker Challenge. This event was set up and run by Englishman Murray Brown one of the best Hi/Lo players in Europe. Murray proved this by taking the final event of the team challenge Omaha Hi/Lo/ Stud Hi/Lo mixed game.
Jari Salonen from Finland won the Pot Limit Holdem, Kirill Gerasimov from Russia won the Pot Limit 7 Card Stud and Julian Gardner from England won the Pot Limit Omaha. Finland won the overall team competition from England in second and Russia in third.
One of the main European tournaments of the year has just started in Holland the Master Classics of Poker. Holland Casino put up €21,000 in a free roll satellite for the Main Event. Seven seats were generated and they were won by Simon 'Aces' Trumper, Peter Derker, Noah Boeken, Craig Grant, Dani Tanner, Hans Van Der Zijden and Patrick Morgan. What a great offer, over €20,000 given back to the players before the tournaments even started.
Holland Casino can take a maximum of 220 players and this number entered the first event €200 Limit Hold'em producing a prize pool of €77,200. Russian player Kirill Gerasimov took the spoils and €30,571. The €500 Pot Limit Omaha again saw the maximum amount of players with Norway's Oystein Halland winning €68,500. Pot Limit games seem to be a speciality of the Scandinavian players so it was no surprise to me to see one of the talented young Norwegian players take this event.
The $200 No Limit Hold'em again had 220 players with another Scandinavian Koray Saka from Sweden taking the spoils and €39,996. For the full results and reports of the Master Classics as they happen check out the website on a daily basis.
The player who is 'HOT' at the moment is a player who has been 'HOT' all year. He is one of the best players around in Europe and I think he will go on to better things at the World Series. He has the perfect temperament for the game and is strong at all forms of Poker. Kirill Gerasimov won in Moscow, St Petersburg and Holland since the last newsletter. On top of that he is already the World Heads Up Champion and in my view he is destined to win a World Series Bracelet.

Drawing Dead: A Poker Cop Mystery
By Robert Arabella
There has been a bloody shoot-out in the Las Vegas Majestic's Poker Room. A player, who has just lost $250,000 in one badly-played hand, has shot two other players before being killed by the Chief of Poker Room Security, The Poker Cop. Based on clues left on the poker table, The Poker Cop and his casino counterpart, Red Penny, continue their investigation.
Part 4 - Kidnapped
Red Penny, Penelope Fallon, Chief of Casino Security, and I go over the facts:
"The late Scott Hadley buys into the Midnight Game, a $500-$1,000 limit hold'em table, and bets a quarter of a million dollars on a poker hand he never looked at until...

Poker in the U.K. Kevin Pratt of the PokerPages Team writes about poker in the UK.
Since our last newsletter we have had tournaments in Ireland, Brighton and Blackpool.
The Rendezvous Casino in Brighton held their first major tournament week called the Harbour Lights Festival. Kaushik Hindocha took the £75 Pot Limit Omaha and £3,600, David Kaye won the £100 Pot Limit Hold'em and £5,000, Ray Millar won the Main Event £250 No Limit Hold'em and £6,850 and Mick Cook won the Pot Limit 7-Card Stud and £2,400. Congratulations to the organisers from the Rendezvous in Brighton who have another festival in December and 4 more tournaments planned for next year.
Over in Ireland we have had the Irish Winter Festival, which is always a popular event. Lucy Rokach continued her great current form by taking the Main Event and another €27,000 to add to the £36,765 she collected at the Vic the week before. Once again she underlines the fact that she is the top female player in Europe. How about a few tips for PokerSchoolOnline Lucy?
The €400 Pot Limit Omaha went to another Vic winner Ross Boatman from The Hendon Mob. Ross collected €16,628 to add to the £74,000 from the Vic. For those of you who don't know Ross is a well known actor in the U.K so watch out when he is bluffing as you never know if he is acting or not. Ross is like a silent assassin stealing your blinds and when you do call him he invariably has the hand.
The first event at the winter festival went to popular Irish globetrotter Alan Betson, one of the best players worldwide. Alan picked up €17,712 in the €300 No Limit Hold'em which will give him some more ammunition to take on the Americans again in their own backyard.
The Northern Lights Poker Series in Blackpool saw the return of the DevilFish. Dave 'DevilFish, Ulliott proved once again there is no better Omaha player by taking the £100 event and $6,090. Dave has been playing in America and Aruba recently without much tournament success so I'm sure this is a prelude to him winning a big tournament again soon. Poker Million The Masters maybe?
Peter 'The Bandit' Evans won the first event £50 Pot Limit Hold'em and £6,920, A Mallu won the £100 No Limit Hold'em £11,880, and Bruce 'The Bomber' Atkinson won the Main Event £250 Pot Limit Hold'em taking home £13,590.
Next up in the U.K is the Winter Festival at the Gala Casino Dundee, November 12th to 17th, with the biggest buy-in being the £500 Pot Limit Holdem. The Main Event however is a 2 Day Tournament at the weekend and has a buy-in of £200.
The player who is 'HOT' since the last newsletter is a split between Lucy Rokach and Ross Boatman. Both players have followed up wins at the Vic with wins in Ireland, showing that form does come in spells.
Next time it might be YOU doing the double.

Poker Down Under
Reported by David Parlor
The Hindmarsh game in Adelaide has found a lot of support over the last couple of weeks and has already attracted around 30 members. Some of the new members are players that have not been seen for a decade or so. Gofor is doing a great job at attracting new players and has had requests that two games a week are held, Sunday and a weeknight. For more information about playing Poker in Adelaide contact Glen directly by email, glengofor@pokernetwork.com
Ben Alaban has started a regular game in Queensland and has been well supported by many poker starved Queenslanders. For details about how to be a part of poker in Queensland email Ben at paddlepoplion@hotmail.com Ben runs tournaments as well as live games and is doing this primarily for his love of the game. Ben and Glen have taken on a lot and ask for very little in return, so next time you pay them a visit be sure to thank them for their time and effort, something that costs so little, but means a lot.
On the casino Poker scene, Crown is holding $490,000 in paid up entries for the main event in January. With two months to go I don't think there is any doubt that the $1,000,000 target will be exceeded with many players traveling from around the globe. Accommodation packages are still available at the 5 star Crown Towers although they are filling quickly. To book a package contact carleneb@crowncasino.com.au as theses packages are not expected to last.
Crown has planned a Special weekend of Poker commencing on Thursday 28th November with Christmas drinks at 6pm followed by some great tournament action throughout the weekend. Satellites will be run for The New Zealand Championships in March next year as well as the main event at Crown in January. I'm sure this weekend will see all of the locals comparing their tournament skills against many of the interstate raiders who always seem to do well when visiting Melbourne.
