Bertrand Grospellier

Bertrand Grospellier - ElkY was born on February 8, 1981 in Melun, France. His competitive nature led him to video games at an early age, and by 2001, he moved to South Korea to become a professional gamer. Starcraft was his best game, and he regularly competed in the Korean Pro Gaming league and at competitions like the World Cyber Games and the Ongamenet Starleague. The records he set and accomplishments he made in that industry still stand as some of the most impressive. Still in his early 20’s, Grospellier was introduced to poker by a friend, and he began to play on PokerStars and realize that his analytic, quick-thinking gaming skills could be put to use on the poker tables. He immediately set out on a path to become the first person to reach “Supernova” status on the site, and upon doing that in two weeks, he took the next 4.5 months to become the first “Supernova Elite” player. Known by his online name “ElkY,” Grospellier quickly became known in online poker circles as one of the most impressive players in the game. He then took his skills to the live poker tournaments, and he soon found himself with a second place finish at the European Poker Tour Scandinavian Open in 2007, which was worth nearly $400K. The following January, he won his first EPT event, taking home $2 million for winning the 2008 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, and the year after that, he won the NLHE high roller event at the PCA. In only a few years, Grospellier has accumulated over $6 million in live tournaments earnings and collected several prestigious online poker titles, such as WCOOP, in the process.
