Karina Jett
Karina Jett was born in Saigon, Vietnam, but her mother and US military father moved the family to the United States when she was 18 months old. They started their live in Florida but soon moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where Nellis Air Force Base was located. With two parents being avid poker players, Karina was exposed to the game early and often, though she had other interests. Her modeling led her to win Miss Photogenic at the Miss World Nevada Pageant in her teenage years, but her education took her to college as a political science major. She eventually quit school, however, to help her family’s jewelry store and Chinese restaurant, and she worked a marketing job. Her casual poker play eventually made more money that her other jobs, and Jett soon became a professional poker player. Focusing on seven-card stud was profitable, but she soon transitioned to hold’em when the games of that variety were stronger. Upon meeting Chip Jett, her eventual husband, the two embarked on a journey of cash games and tournaments around the world. Among Jett’s accomplishments in poker are the final table of the $10K London Open Main Event in 2005, which she did alongside her husband, fourth place in the World Series of Poker Ladies Championship in 2003 and 2004, and final tables at the 2007 US Poker Bowl and 2008 World Poker Tour Ladies Championship.
