Maria Ho
Maria Ho was born in Taipei, Taiwan and is a record breaking professional poker player and Celebrity Spokesperson for the WinStar World Casino. With over a million dollars in live tournament earnings she is currently ranked 5th in the world among female poker players (according to the GPI). Maria’s live tournament results include 18 WSOP cashes, 2 World Series of Poker final tables, 3 WPT cashes, an Aussie Millions final table, and a World Poker Tour final table. She is widely recognized for being the Last Woman Standing at the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event, where she finished 38th out of 6,358 for a payday of $237,865. In fact, with her 27th place finish at the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event, Maria is the first and only player to hold the titles of Last Woman Standing in both the WSOP and WSOPE Main Events. In 2009, Maria competed on the CBS Emmy award-winning season of The Amazing Race with best friend and fellow WSOP Last Woman Standing, Tiffany Michelle. The two made up the only all-female team of the season. Maria has also been seen on the third season of American Idol where she made it to "Hollywood Week", as a panelist on Anderson Cooper 360, and for two consecutive seasons, in 2011 and 2012, she was featured as one of the World Poker Tour's "Ones to Watch". In late 2012 it was announced that Maria would join the Heartland Poker Tour's broadcast team for season 9 of their telecast. Between 2010-2011 Maria's poker game hit an all time high with an impressive streak of four final tables and two record breaking runs, consisting of a 10th place final table finish at the World Poker Tour’s Bellagio Cup, a final table and 6th place finish at the WSOP South Africa Circuit Event, and a 2nd place finish in the Aussie Millions $10,000 buy-in 8-Game tournament. At the 2011 World Series of Poker Maria played heads-up for a WSOP bracelet in Event #4 and broke records for the largest cash a female had ever had at the WSOP when she earned $540,020 for her second place finish. Her streak of impressive WSOP feats continued in the 2012 World Series of Poker where she was named the most-cashing female of the Series, with six individual tournament cashes. Fluent in Mandarin and raised in a traditional Chinese family, no one ever expected Maria to become a professional poker player, but poker and performing were always in the cards. Maria’s family moved from Taiwan to the United States when she was four-years-old, eventually settling just outside of Los Angeles in Arcadia, California. It was during college that Maria was introduced to poker and she soon went from cleaning up at friendly house games to playing Limit cash games at the nearby Indian casino. By the time Maria graduated from UCSD in 2005 with a major in Communications and a minor in Law, she had gone from playing low limits to high stakes cash games and had grown her poker bankroll to the point that she felt confident to embark on a career as a professional poker player. Beyond the poker tables, Maria has been an on-camera host for WSOP.com, a commentator for the live WSOP final-table broadcasts on ESPN 360, a private coach, and a writer for several poker publications - which include authoring a chapter in the book Winning Women of Poker: Secret Strategies Revealed and as a columnist for Bluff Magazine. Maria currently resides just outside of Los Angeles, California. When she’s not traveling on the tournament circuit or for events, she enjoys singing at music gigs throughout Hollywood, devoting her time to charity, and working with her family’s successful real estate firm.

If I could change anything in the world: I would change the lack of kind acts and respect we give each other on a daily basis.
If I could change anything in the poker world: Although the nature of this business can be cutthroat and revolve around people with a healthy appetite for competition, it is imperative for us as poker players to remember that at the end of the day, it is the strength of our character that defines us, and no amount of money is worth compromising that.
