Michael Martin

Michael Martin was born in Long Island, New York, but currently lives in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania. During his youth, his primary focus was on education, eventually heading to Penn State to obtain his English degree. But it was during his sophomore year that poker came into his life, and a home game with family led to an interest in online poker, where he discovered that a study of the game could prove profitable. From a $100 deposit, he produced a bankroll and a career, both of which took him away from school but into a world where his skills translated into dollars. Martin traveled to the World Series of Poker for the first time in 2006 and cashed in the Main Event for nearly $43K. The following year, he cashed in three WSOP events, then traveled to Amsterdam for the Master Classics series and finished second in the Main Event for more than €368K. A final table back in the U.S. on the WSOP Circuit led to a return to Europe, where he placed fifth in the European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo for €421K. A few months later, he collected his first win at the EPT London for a cool £1 million. Since that time, he has struggled with his relationship with poker, but he continues to play online and live tournaments, making deep runs in events like the WSOP and EPT. With more than $3.3 million in live earnings to date, it is no surprise that he hasn’t yet parted ways with poker.
