Patrick Bruel
Patrik Bruel was born on May 14, 1959 in Algeria and spent much of his life in France. His competitive spirit came through in his youth as a soccer player, but it was in his late teens and early 20’s that he pursued singing and acting. He quickly made a career of those endeavors, first acquiring a role in the 1979 Le Coup de sirocco, then continuing to act in television shows and theater productions. By 1982, he released his first singing album. He has become a well-known star in France and beyond. In the mid 1990’s, Bruel decided to take a long-time interest in the game of poker to the tournament tables. Since the Aviation Club in Paris was close to home, he played several events there in 1996 and final tabled two events, prompting him to make the trek to Las Vegas in 1997 for the World Series of Poker. He made a deep run there in an Omaha event, and he played more tournaments when he returned to Paris, final tabling several that year. And in 1998, he cashed in three WSOP events, one of which was sixth place in an Omaha event and the other was a victory in the $5K limit hold’em event, garnering him a gold bracelet. Since then, Bruel has made more final tables at events like the WSOP and the European Poker Tour, as well as in preliminary events at the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic and the Rendez Vous a Paris. With over $1 million in live tournament earnings to date, Bruel continues to play poker alongside his opportunities as a singer, actor, and businessman.
