Peter Eastgate
Born on December 13, 1985, Peter Eastgate hails from Dalum, Denmark. From his days of high school, he was taken with numbers, eventually going on to study economics at Aarhus University. But it was the numbers involved with poker that caught his attention in high school and eventually prompted him to drop out of college to pursue the game on a full-time basis. Eastgate built an online poker bankroll that allowed him to play in high-stakes cash games where he specifically excelled in short-handed and heads-up play. But live play caught his attention as well, and after a final table at the Paddy Poker Irish Open and cash in the EPT Scandinavian Open, he was ready for the 2008 WSOP. The 22-year old navigated a field of 6,843 other players and made his way to the November Nine in the WSOP Main Event that year, and upon returning to Las Vegas in November, he beat Ivan Demidov in the heads-up match to win $9,152,416 and become the youngest Main Event winner at the time. Since then, Eastgate added an 18th place finish at the WSOP Europe Main Event to his resume, along with a 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure cash and side event win for $343,000. He even made a deep run at the 2009 WSOP Main Event by finishing in 78th place. Later in 2009, he took second at the EPT London Main Event, final tabled EPT Deauville, and finished fifth at the 2010 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
