Pieter de Korver
Pieter de Korver hails from Leeuwarden, Holland, and lived his life in the Netherlands. Though he completed his education and went into the regular work force, it was poker that caught his attention and proved to be more than a fun pastime. After honing his skills via online poker, he quit his job and dedicated himself to the game on a full-time basis in 2007. De Korver began to put his abilities to work on the live tournament circuit in 2008, making attempts at tournaments close to home and even final tabling a no-limit hold’em event at the Utrecht Summer Classics in the summer of that year. The following year, he won a spot on a PokerStars-sponsored Dutch television show and won, becoming the Poker Champion of Holland, and proceeded to travel to the European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo in April. He won that event, too, staking claim to one of the most prestigious titles in poker and taking home €2.3 million for the win. From that point on, his bankroll allowed global travel, and he followed poker to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker, where he cashed twice, and to more EPT stops, making a deep run in the Prague Main Event later in 2009. In early 2010, he added another win to his resume with the short-handed NLHE event at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, and he since final tabled events at the EPT Vilamoura and the Macau Poker Cup. He continues to enjoy his poker journey and play online as a member of Team PokerStars Pro.
