Duane Tomko

Dewey Tomko was a poker player well before his 18th birthday, making money at the tables in pool halls of his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. The game would carry him through as a side-gig until he graduated from Salem College.

Tomko put the game aside, however, took a job as a kindergarten teacher, and focused his energry on his family. His son is a poker professional of sorts and encouraged Tomko to re-enter the game after a long hiatus. He took the advice and, after 35 years, finally won his first WSOP circuit event in 2005. Dewey says he hopes to one day encounter his own flesh-and-blood on the felt of a World Series of Poker final table.
