Hamid DastmalchiOriginally from Iran, Hamid Dastmalchi made a name for himself as a professional poker player when he won the main event of the 1992 World Series of Poker and took home the $1 million first prize. In 1999, Datsmalchi was involved in a legal case with Binion's Horseshoe would not let him cash almost $1 million in chips after a change in management. A gaming commission ultimately ruled in his favor and the chips were cashed. With two more bracelets under his belt, Dastmalchi has become less active on the tournament circuit as of late and has focused more on cash games.
