Mariealena Calabrese D'AgostinoMariealena Calabrese was born and raised in South Philadelphia, PA, and is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do and Hapkido. She began gambling in pool rooms at the ripe age of 16, which is also where she got her start playing poker. Over the years Mariealena has had the benefit of learning from World Class players such has John "World" Hennigan, John Juanda, Phil Ivey, and husband John D'Agostino. Mariealena has since been around the poker scene for ten years. She started out playing low limit poker in Atlantic City a decade ago and gravitated to playing in high limit cash games around the Country in recent years. She went from being a Seven Card Stud player to eventually becoming an all around player with her specialties being Omaha H/L and Limit Hold'em. Mariealena has been a competitive force on the tournament circuit in recent years. Although Mariealena has cashed in many major tournaments throughout the country and has made several final tables, her first major tournament victory didn't happen until January of 2004 in Tunica, where she topped a highly competitive field and captured first place and $29,732 in the Seven-Card Stud Eight-or-Better event at the 2004 Jack Binion World Poker Open. With her victory, Calabrese became the third woman to win an open event in the five-year history of the JBWPO.
