Erick Lindgren

Captured the first World Poker Tour Player of the year honor with his two victories during the Tour's second season. Lindgren plays poker just like the All League quarterback and MVP basketball player he was at high school. Raised in a home of two boys in the remote town of Burney, CA (pop. 3,000) in the Sierra Nevada range near Mt. Shasta, competition was the norm.

Going off to junior college in Chico, Ca to play basketball, Lindgren became sidetracked. After playing recreationally at the local Indian casino, he secured a job as a blackjack dealer. He soon picked up pretty handy poker skills, which he began to apply in earnest. At 21, he was playing poker full time and working at a casino in San Pablo, Ca as a "propositional player" - a player hired by the company to keep the games lively. Before long, he was off and running as an up and coming poker pro, playing tournament poker regularly.
