Humberto Brenes

Humberto Brenes, easily one of poker's most charismatic and well-liked players, learned how to play poker at the age of 7. Before playing poker professionally Humberto did extremely well in baccarat and craps tournaments in the Bahamas, once earning over $300,000 in a craps tournament.

Despite his success in baccarat and craps, Humberto now focuses his efforts solely on poker. "For business, it is better to play baccarat or craps because the tourists don't know how to play," he's said. "But the challenge comes in playing against the poker pros... I prefer to take the challenge..."

Brenes' success is not limited to the realm of gambling, however. An entrepreneur of sorts, Humberto has a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Costa Rica. He owns restaurants, a nut distribution company, and a construction company.
