Gregory P. RaymerGreg "Fossilman" Raymer - named so for his habit of collecting fossils, which he uses as card protectors - started playing "nickel-dime" poker in college with his fraternity buddies. Greg would move up to 3-6, 20-40, 150-300, eventually making his way to Connecticut and the Foxwoods Casino where he played in their weekly tournaments and faired well in cash games. Greg skyrocketed to poker acclaim when he defeated 2,575 other players to take first place in the 2004 World Series of Poker main event, and $5,000,000 for his effort. Raymer paid only $160 to enter an online tournament which he won, securing his seat in the main event. After winning the WSOP '04, Greg says he spends little time playing tournaments, focusing instead on paying quality attention to his wife and daughter.
