Resident of Erie, PA Darren Elias is enjoying a bumper 2011 at the poker tables. Most of his career earnings have been in this year, including two cashes over $100,000. Elias beat Britain’s Ricky Hale to fifth spot, earning $230,000 in the process.

4. Fred Goldberg – Total Winnings $280,925
Fred Goldberg has been a regular on the poker circuit since 2006, achieving 19 cashes, three wins and a WSOP bracelet. For coming fourth in this event, Goldberg netted a cool $280,000.

The European Short Handed Poker Championship was one of many live poker tournaments to take place in Ireland last weekend. 656 players anted up for the €550 Main Event on Day 1. However, it was a newly implemented format, which allowed players who departed on the opening day to return for a second chance on Day 2 and that had a substantial bearing on the eventual outcome on Sunday.

While the PokerStars WCOOP came to a conclusion on Monday, there was no lack of enthusiasm for the latest PokerStars Super Tuesday which more than doubled its $150,000 guarantee in mid-week.

Team PokerStars Pros Jose 'Nacho' Barbero and Randy 'nanonoko' Lew were among the 328 runner field but neither managed to ride the money bubble. It took over seven hours before a final table was set. 'jonwayne69' led the way with 365,617 chips.
