The fourth day of the Festa al Lago WPT $15,000 Championship began with 37 players, just ten eliminations away from the money. Day 3 of the WPT $15,000 Main Event at the annual Festa al Lago began with 98 players, and after five levels of play, 37 remained. The deep structure and small antes didn't slow the action much, and the many short stacks kept things interesting. The field is now ten eliminations from the money. Action Heats Up on Day 2 of World Poker Tour's Festa al Lago

The Bellagio continued its experiment with a unique structure on Day 2 of the WPT's Festa al Lago $15,000 Main Event. The unusually deep structure gave each player 60,000 chips to start, and for the first time, players were allowed to register until mid-way through Day 2. Kentucky Supreme Court Hears Online Gaming Domain Name Seizure Case

Yesterday, Kentucky's Supreme Court heard arguments for 90 minutes from both sides concerning the legality of the state seizing domain names used in online poker and Internet gambling. Outcome of the case, expected in 2-4 months, could have wide-ranging implications outside the online gaming industry.

World Poker Tour's Festa al Lago Main Event Kicks Off

The $15,000 Festa al Lago WPT Main Event got off to a slow start on Wednesday at the Bellagio. The tournament features one of the deepest structures of the year. With each player starting with 600 big blinds, the momentum takes awhile to build. This year, players can even wait to register until five hours into Day 2. The stacks weren't quite deep enough to save more than 40 of the day's 246 entrants. Soheil Shamseddin was the first to bust in just under 90 minutes. Michael and Robert Mizrachi, Daniel Negreanu, Joe Sebok, Eric "Basebaldy" Baldwin, Chad Brown, Antonio Esfandiari, and David Benyamine also didn't make it through the day.

German Markus Sippe Bests Record Field at Boylepoker International Poker Open

Boylepoker just reported that its International Poker Open tournament in Dublin, Ireland attracted a record for an event outside the USA with 1,440 players from over 18 countries. German-born, Luxembourg resident, Markus Sippe, won the event after less than 10 minutes of heads-up, taking home a payday of USD $62,250.

Shares in Party Poker parent PartyGaming plc have already dropped nearly 14% of their value today in London, following reports that co-founder Anurag Dikshit is to sell approximately 75 million shares, equivalent to two-thirds of his 27.63% stake in the company. The sale, worth a potential GBP 213 million at yesterday's closing price of 284.50 pence, will reduce his holding to approximately 9%.

Kiwi Simon Watt Wins Skycity New Zealand Poker Tournament (NZPT)

Sky City Entertainment announced in a press release that today New Zealander Simon Watt became the second ever player to win the SKYCITY Festival of Poker's NZPT Main Event. Simon outplayed 263 rivals over five days to take home the 2009 SKYCITY Festival of Poker trophy and $209,085 NZD. Winning the NZPT event in his home town of Auckland made the win even better.
