'All In For a Cure' Poker Pledge Pgm Supports The NephCure Foundation Poker Players International (PPI) announced the start of the "All In For a Cure" pledge program for The Nephcure Foundation (www.nephcure.org), the only charitable organization committed exclusively to support research seeking the cause of two potentially devastating kidney diseases, Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS).
'Ambassador of Poker' Mike Sexton Elected to 2009 Poker Hall of Fame Mike Sexton has been chosen as the 38th and only 2009 inductee into the Poker Hall of Fame. Harrah's and the World Series of Poker just announced Sexton's selection into the 30th year of the Poker Hall of Fame. Sexton's induction ceremony will be held on Nov. 7 at the Rio in Las Vegas, when play resumes at the Main Event of the World Series of Poker.
French Bill to Legalize Online Poker Passes Assembly- Next to Senate On October 13, The French National Assembly approved (302-206) the bill to liberalize and regulate online gaming (including online poker) in France. The bill now passes on to the Senate for further debate.
Party Poker Parent- PartyGaming's -4% 3Q Sales Meet Co Expectations PartyGaming PLC, the U.K.-listed online gambling group and parent of online poker site Party Poker, today reported that 3rd Quarter (3Q) sales were down 4% year-on-year to $112.7 million. This is in line with company expectations. Shares open lower than the 320p target price, and closed Wednesday at 283p.

Media Corp Buys Purple Lounge, Promises More M&A in Future Today, Media Corporation (Media Corp), the AIM-listed advertising network and online publishing group, announced that it bought all shares of UK-based Purple Lounge Ltd (Purple Lounge), which offers online poker, card and casino games, and sports betting. After the acquisition, Media Corp will be able to market its gaming services to the United Kingdom, since Purple Lounge operates from Malta, a UK white-listed jurisdiction.
