Online Ads Promote Billions Generated if Online Gambling Legalized in USA

The Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative announced in a press release today that they have begun an online advertising campaign supporting the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act (H.R. 2267), legislation introduced by Chairman Barney Frank to establish a framework to permit licensed online poker and Internet gaming operators to accept wagers from individuals in the USA.

Bwin Boosts Online Poker Stakes in Italy with Gioco Digitale Purchase

In a press release today, bwin and Italian online poker operator Gioco Digitale announced that bwin will acquire 100% of the shares in Gioco Digitale S.p.A. for a total consideration of 2.3m bwin shares and up to 50 million Euros in cash, pending Gioco Digitale's achievement of certain financial performance targets in 2009. The amount is in excess of the 90-95m Euro figures previously circulated. Austria-based bwin claims that the move will position bwin as Italy's top online poker provider, and furthermore position bwin as the leader in continental Europe's largest online gaming market.

Ruling on Tokwiro's UltimateBet Online Poker Cheating Scandal Released

The parent company of UltimateBet (UB), Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG (Tokwiro), last Friday received a decision from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC), UB's regulatory authority, regarding the 2008 UB cheating scandal. The report, which followed an intensive and exhaustive investigation, ruled that Tokwiro has met the conditions imposed on it and has shown adequate cause as to why its Client Provider Authorization should not be revoked. The report also included a full public disclosure of all 23 accounts and 117 usernames that were used by the cheater. The method for determining the list of names was approved by the KGC and their forensic auditors.

Dragonfish, the independent B2B division of Pacific Poker parent 888, has signed a long-term agreement with Harrah's Interactive Entertainment, Inc. (HIE), a subsidiary of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (Harrah's), to provide its online gaming services. Dragonfish will first support the UK launch and roll-out of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and Caesars Casino brands by supplying online poker and casino software.

Court Rejects iMEGA Challenge to UIGEA- Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act

The Third Circuit Court of Appeals on September 1st rejected a challenge by the Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association (iMEGA), which argued that the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) is unconstitutionally vague and infringes on people's right to privacy. UIGEA made it illegal for financial institutions to process payments for residents of the USA in states where online gambling is already illegal.
