Ilari Sahamies and Phil Galfond Dominate Online Action
PokerStars was at the epicenter of high stakes cash game action over the weekend as three nosebleed regulars posted profits in excess of $200,000 on the virtual felt.
Ilari 'Ziigmund' Sahamies led the way after crushing the $200/$400 Pot Limit Omaha tables. Sahamies, playing under his 'Ilari_FIN' alias, took 'moirhums' to the cleaners as he recorded an impressive six figure upswing.
Sahamies eventually ended the weekend in the black by $224,000 after 2,284 hands. The Finn has struggled for consistency during the last 18 months but is currently on a $400,000 heater during August.
Phil 'MrSweets28' Galfond has also enjoyed a lucrative few weeks following his relocation to Vancover, Canada. Galfond continued that form on Sunday as he blazed his way to a $203,000 profit.
Pot Limit Omaha specialist, Andreas 'skjervoy' Torbergsen rounded out these three biggest winners online. Torbergsen extended his upswing for the calendar year to the $1.4 million mark after taking down $219,000 over the weekend.
While that trio prospered, Romain 'moirhums' Arnaud was left to rue his woes against Sahamies. Arnaud ended several sessions in a $224,000 hole. Alexey 'LuckyGump' Makarov also had a weekend to forget. The Russian poker pro lost $102,000 and is now down by over $300,000 for the last two weeks alone.
Team PokerStars Pro Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom returned to the felt after a brief hiatus but his time away failed to kick start a lucrative run as he bled $145,000 from 3,091 hands on the world's largest poker site, PokerStars. '1-ronnyr3' (-$145,000) rounded out the biggest losers online.
