54 Now Co-Sponsor Barney Frank's Internet Gambling Bill- HR 2267Mon, Aug 3rd, 2009 @ 12:00am This past Friday, three more Congressional representatives signed as co-sponsors to Barney Frank's Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act (H.R. 2267). The bill proposes to regulate online Poker and Internet Gambling to US residents. That brings the total number of co-sponsors to date to fifty-four (clich here for full list of co-sponsors). Though both parties have indicated their support for the Bill, last Friday's co-sponsors were all Democrats. Representative Betsy Markey of Colorado, Rep. Russ Carnahan of Missouri, and Rep. Bill Pascrell of New Jersey most recently added their signatures to bill HR 2267. Frank is hoping that with Democrats controlling the House and the Senate, as well as many Republicans who are concerned for Internet freedom and raising money for their stressed budgets, that the bill will make it farther through the legislative process than his prior bill. The House Financial Committee, of which Frank is chair, expects to address HR 2267 in the fall, hopefully in September. As you can see by clicking here, the list of bills assigned to the House Financial Committee in this legislative session is quite long- so do NOT stop contacting your Congressional Representatives to tell them you support Frank's bill: HR 2267. You can contact them by phone or quickly using the form provided by the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) at http://theppa.org.
