Absolute Poker Responds to KGC ReportSun, Jan 13th, 2008 @ 12:00am In response to the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) report "In the Matter of Absolute Poker; Investigations Regarding Complaints of Cheating," Absolute Poker (AP) voiced sounds of acceptance and relief in a statement published over the weekend. No arguments or disagreements were heard found in the AP press release, which instead stated that, "we (AP) recognize the completeness and accuracy of the KGC conclusions, and we accept without reservation the KGC's findings and sanctions." The majority of the statement hinted that AP was most concerned with finding some closure and putting the incident behind them. "Most importantly, we are pleased, after these many months, that Absolute Poker can finally put behind it a most distressing and regrettable experience for the Company, its employees, and its customers." The statement's final words reiterate that sense of relief, concluding that, "while AP is paying a severe penalty for the fraud perpetrated upon the Company and its customers, we are gratified that we can now close the book on this sordid affair." Steps towards a more secure site are being taken and AP now sees the audit, "as an opportunity to improve our internal practices." Absolute Poker has assembled a team to add improved controls and additional safeguards in order to prevent future breaches. Absolute Poker also announced plans for a series of 'poker security summits', the first to be held January 18th, 2008. Members of the poker world will be invited to discuss security issues, in hopes of finding "innovative and cutting-edge ways to further improve AP's security and enhance its transparency." The Kahnawake Gaming Commission released the long-awaited Absolute Poker report last week, after more than two months of investigation. In October of last year, players on AP began to complain of opponents with the "super-user" ability to see opponent's hole cards. The KGC governs all sites based in the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake, Quebec, which is the home to the majority of the world's online gaming companies.
