'Ambassador of Poker' Mike Sexton Signs with NLOPFri, Mar 21st, 2008 @ 12:00am Mike Sexton, accomplished poker pro and poker advocate who's aptly nicknamed the 'Ambassador of Poker' for his champagne-style and long-time contributions to the poker industry, has signed an exclusive contract to be the on-site spokesman of the National League of Poker (NLOP), a company press release yesterday announced. NLOP, a division of Power Play Development, is one of the US-focused free-play-for-cash-and-prizes social gaming sites that have appeared since passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). "Mike Sexton is the person that NLOP always wanted as a representative, he is well respected within the poker community and was also recognized as the top poker ambassador at the Card Player Magazine Awards Gala in 2006," explained Michael Clebnik, CEO of NLOP. "His agreement validates our position in this new and developing marketplace and we are thrilled to have him on our team." In his newly created role of on-site spokesman, Sexton will have broad, hands-on involvement with the site, including playing online with members, consulting on tournaments, taking part in the new community area and representing NLOP in the offline poker community. "I liked the idea right away, but as I researched them more closely, I really loved the game-play design, tournament structures, and social networking aspects of the site. This is much more than an online poker room: it is a vibrant poker community," said Sexton. More About Mike Mike Sexton has been a professional poker player for over 25 years, and is in the top ten all-time for number of times in the money at the WSOP. He has accumulated over $3,200,000 in tournament winnings, highlighted by his win of $1M in the 2006 WSOP Tournament of Champions. Mike gained celebrity status as the host/commentator on the World Poker Tour (now seen on GSN on Monday nights). He resides in Las Vegas with his wife Karen, three dogs, and a boy 'on the way'.
