Asian Poker Tour Announces 2008 ScheduleTue, Apr 1st, 2008 @ 12:00am The Asian Poker Tour (APT) has just announced its 2008 calendar, and with USD $1million for grabs at each of four events starting this May in the Philippines, it is set to capture the imagination of the poker world and to make the Tour bigger and better than ever.
The Tour will kick off in Manila in the Philippines and run May 27 to June 1. It will be followed by similar events in Macau, Asia's gambling capital, South Korea, and finally Singapore, which will be the last leg of the Tour. Venues and dates for the last three events will be announced shortly. EACH TOURNEY WILL OFFER USD $1 MILLION GUARANTEED PRIZE POOL A US$1 million guaranteed prize pool at each event is sure to attract poker players from all over the world. There will also be internet qualifiers which will ensure that online players can rub shoulders with some of the world's leading poker pros at each live tournament.
The opening APT leg in Manila will be a poker tournament of world class standards. More than 400 players will battle it out during six days of thrilling poker for a share of the guaranteed $1 million prize pool. The buy-in is $2,500, but there is the chance of winning one of the online satellites, which includes an all-expenses paid trip as well as the buy-in. You can also expect similar fare at the other three events- huge prize pools will be up for grabs as well as fantastic tournament packages for online qualifiers.

David Daneshgar Wins His First World Series of Poker Bracelet in Final $1,500 NLHE Tournament of 2008 Accomplished poker player David Daneshgar took first place in the last of seven $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em tournaments at the 2008 WSOP. The day before the Main Event, Daneshgar beat Scott Sitron heads up to win the bracelet and $625,443. The tournament was the last of the Series to conclude at the ESPN final table, and it was an appropriately difficult group of nine who made it that far from an initial field of 2,693.
World Series of Poker July 2 Review, Preview of Thursday July 3 (Day 34) The last two events before the Main Event of the World Series of Poker begins were played out overnight Wednesday July 2: in Event 52, David Daneshgar won the last $1,500 NLHE tournament, his first WSOP gold bracelet, and $625,443 in prize money which is his eighth time to cash at the WSOP, all since 2005. Smyth, the 2007 PaddyPower Irish Open winner, can add the title WSOP winner to his resume and $859,549 USD to his bankroll; and Phil Hellmuth lost a chance for bracelet #12 when James Schaaf captured his first bracelet and the $256,412 first-place prize in Event 51: FINAL: H.O.R.S.E $1,500.
