Best Damn Poker Show's Season Two Begins Today January 12

by PokerPages.com
Mon, Jan 12th, 2009 @ 12:00am

The second season of UltimateBet.net's "Best Damn Poker Show", a reality poker show featuring Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke and 24 would-be poker champions, gets underway tonight, January 12, and on subsequent Monday nights on the Fox Sports Net (FSN) at 9pm across all time zones in the United States. Each telecast of the 7-episode series will be repeated at 11pm and 12:30am and additional footage will be showcased exclusively online.

The show aims to determine which poker legend -Phil Hellmuth or Annie Duke- can better teach the game of Texas Hold'em, and transform ordinary poker players into champions capable of competing on the world stage. Each episode will include player eliminations, so expect the pressure to escalate from week to week as the race to survive the cut builds to a dramatic finale.

Much like the first season of Best Damn Poker Show, which aired in early 2008, online poker players at UltimateBet.net competed for a spot on the show by creating and submitting an audition video that highlighted why they deserved to be on the ultimate poker reality series. Many of the user-submitted videos can be seen on YouTube.

The online site also invited Texas Hold'em fans to take part in a series of qualifiers that paid out spots on the show. What's more, a live audition process took place at the 2008 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The majority of the 24 poker hopefuls were cherry picked from the legion of on-camera interviews conducted here, where producers had access to the thousands of talented Texas Hold'em fans who were in town for the world's most prestigious poker tournament.

On August 15th, 2008, UltimateBet.net signed Tracy Scala, the winner of the first Best Damn Poker Show tournament, to its newly created Star Players Team. Participants in the second season are hoping for a similar outcome.
