Accomplished poker player David Daneshgar took first place in the last of seven $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em tournaments at the 2008 WSOP. The day before the Main Event, Daneshgar beat Scott Sitron heads up to win the bracelet and $625,443. The tournament was the last of the Series to conclude at the ESPN final table, and it was an appropriately difficult group of nine who made it that far from an initial field of 2,693.

David DaneshgarMatt Matros, author of 2005 book The Making of a Poker Player, went home in sixth place, earning the tenth WSOP cash of his career. Corwin Cole began Day 3 with the chip lead and finished in fifth place. Farzad Rouhani took the chip lead at one point and looked poised to win his second gold bracelet of the Series, but he had to settle for fourth place. Rouhani earned his first bracelet in the Mixed Omaha/7 Card Stud Hi/Low 8 or Better tournament. In four impressive WSOP cashes this year, he has placed first, fourth, 12th, and 17th.

Dan Heimiller busted in third place, leaving Scott Sitron with the chip lead against David Daneshgar. In a tough heads-up match, Daneshgar took over the lead and eventually defeated online star Sitron. Daneshgar, a venture capitalist from California, has won more than $2 million in live tournaments since 2004 and is classified as a semi-pro. This is his eighth WSOP cash. Sitron picks up his third WSOP cash, all from 2008. He finished 20th in an earlier NLHE event.
