Day 2 Latin American Poker Tour Ends- Final Table Now Set

by PokerPages.com
Mon, May 5th, 2008 @ 12:00am

The first stop of the Latin American Poker Tour began May 3rd with 314 players, then 113 players started Day 2, and after a long grueling day of play the final nine players have emerged (listed below). They will return Monday May 5 at 2pm to determine who goes home with the LAPT Champion title and the $222,940 top prize money.

The $2,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em poker tournament event, sponsored by PokerStars.net, is being held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Play during Day 2 went fast at times, but like most tourneys, the many slow times seemed to go on for endless hours, as the 113 players played down to the money. The unfortunate man to miss the money by just one place to go home empty-handed was one of the popular home favorites, Piragibe Lindolfo Ataide, who was outflopped by Juan Carlos Burguillos.

Here are the final nine and their chip counts at the end of Day 2:

  • Julien Nuijten (Holland) -- 970,000
  • Alex Brenes (Costa Rica) -- 324,000
  • Vitaly Kovyazin (USA) -- PokerStars qualifier -- 380,000
  • Severin Walser (Switzerland) -- PokerStars qualifier -- 175,000
  • Eduardo Henriques (Brazil) -- 275,000
  • Rafael Pardo (Colombia) -- PokerStars qualifier --- 278,000
  • Juan Carlos Burguillos (Venezuela) -- 297,000
  • Oliver Kugler (Germany) -- PokerStars qualifier -- 176,000
  • Nikolai Senniger (Germany) -- PokerStars qualifier -- 318,000
