Devonshire and the Dragon Make WPT Final Table in Reno

by PokerPages.com
Fri, Mar 28th, 2008 @ 12:00am

More than 261 entrants showed up at the Grand Sierra in Reno to fight for the WPT World Poker Challenge. After three days of play, just one six-handed TV table remains.

Phil Ivey was hoping to be back on TV at another WPT final table, but the LAPC champ found himself short stacked and eventually rivered by the gutshot of Lee Markholt. Chau Giang got in good, his tens out in front of Michael Mizrachi's king high. Of course, a king would be found on the flop, eliminating Giang in 8th. Sadly, Mizrachi couldn't put Giang's chips to much use. Mizrachi found himself busted on the TV bubble after his A-J was outkicked and by Jason Potter's A-K.

Potter, who you may know as the Aussie Millions mugging victim, enters the final table with the chip lead. He is followed closely by Markholt, who has made yet another cash at a WPT event. 2007 Wynn Classic Champion Zach Hyman is hoping to add another big win to his resume, while David "the Dragon" Pham would love to add the trophy to his personal collection. PokerPages' Bryan Devonshire entered the final two tables with the chip lead, but will have to setter for 3rd in the chip counts at the final table.

Final table chip counts:

Zach Hyman - 285,000

Jeff DeWitt - 249,000

David Pham - 406,000

Jason Potter –-1,156,000

Bryan Devonshire - 674,000

Lee Markholt - 1,137,000
