End of Day 3 at World Poker Tour World ChampionshipsTue, Apr 22nd, 2008 @ 12:00am Day 2 of the World Poker Tour World Championship saw a spike in action from the grind that was Day 1. Deep starting stacks limited first day eliminations to just 121, while 233 busted during Day 2. It is possible that the field of the '08 WPT World Championships will go down as one of the toughest no limit tournament fields of all time. Each table was at least five pros strong, with some containing as many as seven or eight familiar faces. But a pro heavy field meant a pro heavy rail, and by the end of the day, Phil Hellmuth, Joe Hachem, Chris Ferguson, Michael Mizrachi and Paul Wasicka were among those who fell in Day 2. Robert Mizrachi raced to the chip lead early in the day and would finish Day 2 as the only player over half a million chips. Bryan Devonshire took pots from Eli Elezra, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Galfond on his way to nearly 400K, which is good enough for fourth in the chip counts. Not far behind is last year's champ Carlos Mortensen, who finished in the seven spot.
