European Poker Tour (EPT) Goes to Bahamas 2007-2008

by PokerPages.com
Mon, Jun 18th, 2007 @ 12:00am

The PokerStars-sponsored European Poker Tour (EPT) has announced its 2007-2008 Season 4, adding the Bahamas as a new venue that it describes as the most 'relaxing' stop of the poker tournament series. It has also increased its tournament buy-ins citing the need to limit players after the nearly 3,500 sell-out attendance of popular Season 3, which created a total prize pool of nearly 27 million Euros.

EPT founder John Duthie said, "We have raised the buy-ins across the board to 8,000 Euros. This decision is based on the limited number of people who can be accommodated at our EPT venues and the fact that the 10,000 Euro EPT Grand Final - our most expensive event - proved so popular."

Duthie also announced that the EPT had added the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) at the Atlantis Casino Resort in the Bahamas to the schedule during Season 4.

"The most exciting news for next season is that the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), to be held next January at the Atlantis Casino Resort in the Bahamas, has been added to the EPT schedule. The PCA, a hugely popular event, is now 'an official EPT tournament' and we are delighted to welcome it to our list of events," said John Duthie, chief exec' of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour.

The Bahamas is in addition to a full schedule featuring stops in Barcelona, London, Baden (Austria), Dublin, Prague, Dortmund (Germany), Copenhagen, Warsaw, with the EPT Grand Final again being held in Monte Carlo (click here for complete location and tournament information, or see schedule below).

Season 3 saw not only a strong player turnout, but it also saw more top poker players from the United States making the trip across the Atlantic to compete in EPT events. In fact, it was not a European, but American Gavin Griffin, not a European, who took home the 1.8 million Euros first place prize money in the Grand Final European Poker Tour this past April. With the Bahamas even closer to the USA, the field is likely to include even more top US players.
