GSN to Air EPT PokerStars Carribbean Adventure
Tue, Dec 30th, 2008 @ 12:00am
The PokerStars Carribbean Adventure has become one of the most popular stops on the European Poker Tour. The Game Show Network (GSN) has taken notice and has agreed to air the 2009 PCA on or around May 31.
Last year, Bertrand "ElKy" Grospellier bested a field 1,136 players strong for the $2 million first-place prize. Grospellier would also earn a win at the WPT Festa Al Lago event, worth $1.4 million and the top spot in the 2008 ProRank 1 race.
The 2008 PCA Main Event carried a buy-in of $7,800 + $200. With the jump to a $10,000 buy-in, expect the prize pool to top the $8,860,800 that was given away last year.
The PCA will take over the Atlantis Resort and Casino on Paradise Island, Bahamas, from January 5-10. In addition to the main event, a $25,000 High Rollers event is on tap, as well as a Battleship Event, where players sub laptops and PokerStars SNGs for cards, chips and felt. The back-to-back positioning of the laptops left them no choice but to look to the Battleship boardgame for the event name.
For those looking to tighten up their game, Team PokerStars Pros Greg Raymer, Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moneymaker and Vanessa Rousso will be dropping knowledge to those in the PokerStars Poker Camp. The packages, valued at $4,500, consist of four nights at the Atlantis, $1,500 for food and fun, three days camp instruction, and entry into a campers only event.
GSN recently cut ties with the World Poker Tour after just one season, while retaining High Stakes Poker for Season V. The WPT will move to Fox Sports Net in 2009. Coincidentally, the PCA was originally a WPT stop, until it was adopted by the EPT for 2008.
