Neteller Apologizes to U.S. Poker Players on YouTube
Tue, Aug 7th, 2007 @ 12:00am
Neteller President and CEO Ron Martin appeared on a YouTube video giving a short and concise speech explaining and apologizing for his company freezing online poker player and online gambling funds of U.S. customers, and for the company's lack of communication.
Martin said he had followed blogs and other public opinion sites upset with the frozen funds, and acknowledged that the sensitive nature of negotiations with the Department of Justice was the factor contributing to their unusually weak communications with Neteller customers.
When Neteller reached a settlement with the DOJ, the settlement mandated that Neteller return to customers in the United States approximately $94 million which Neteller had on deposit in a foreign bank account.
Return of funds began 30 July, with over $40 million in withdrawals processed the first day, according to Martin.
Also in the video, Martin thanked U.S. customers for their understanding and patience.

Here are some points from the Neteller video:
Also as part of the settlement, Neteller will pay a $136,000,000 penalty and will be monitored for at least 18 months as part of an agreement to defer prosecution. If Neteller fulfills conditions of the deferred agreement for 2 years, until July 2009, all charges will be dropped.
