Neteller Stops Peer To Peer Transfers for US Online Poker PlayersMon, Feb 5th, 2007 @ 12:00am Things just got harder for US online poker players trying to withdraw their funds from Neteller, as the company disabled card and peer to peer transfers for Americans which many players were using to get their money out.
Adding to the anxiety and frustration of US players last weekend was a Neteller decision to suspend ATM card privileges for Americans. Now peer to peer transfers for Americans have been stopped. Customers are being directed to an information update site at www.updates.neteller.com for up to date answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ). On that page, last updated Feb 3 as of this writing, Neteller says, "US member accounts have been temporarily de-certified to revoke Peer-to-Peer capabilities. These accounts should be automatically re-certified in the next 10 business days, but Peer-to-Peer transfers will no longer be available to US members." Players are being asked to have patience while Neteller works hard to resolve a difficult situation and figures out how to get their money to them. On the FAQ pages Neteller says, "We are doing our best to restore our withdrawal options but don't know how long this will take. In the meantime your funds are maintained in trust accounts. We will communicate any updates as soon as possible." The company is offering a subscription email service so members can register to receive all Neteller information and press releases; click here to sign up for the e-news alert service. Meantime, the Neteller information update site notes, "All US members will continue to be able to use their Neteller e-wallet account to safely transfer funds to and from non-gambling merchants and are not required to close their account or withdraw their funds." channels that Neteller could use to pay out Americans who were left out in
the cold by Neteller's decision to stop all US business on January 17, following
the arrest of Neteller founders Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre on January
15.
