'November Nine' Emerge Today at World Series of Poker, Hellmuth Places 45thMon, Jul 14th, 2008 @ 12:00am Today, July 14, is a big day at the World Series of Poker, when the three remaining tables of the Main Event will be trimmed to one, from the 27 players starting play today Day 7. That means that today we will learn the identities of the 'November Nine', the nine finalists who will return November 9 to play out the final table under the television spotlights.
Mike Matusow, Thomas "Thunder" Keller and Victor Ramdin also did not survive the night, so they join Hoyt Corkins, Jon Friedberg, Allen Cunningham, Jeff Madsen, and Mark Vos who didn't make the cut yesterday to play in Sunday's Day 6. When Nikolay Losev finished in 28th-place a few hours ago, the Amazon Room at the Rio held 27 players of the original 6,844 who entered the Main Event. Tiffany Michelle, Chino Rheem and Brandon Cantu survived, and are among those chasing chip leader Dennis Phillips (at 11,910,000) and Craig Marquis (at 11,460,000). Philips and Marquis are the only two players with over 10,000,000 chips. They will return today Monday July 14 at noon PDT to vie for a spot on the epic 2008 final table.
