Poker Movie 'The Deal' Debuts April 25Thu, Apr 10th, 2008 @ 12:00am The Deal is a new poker movie starring Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds, Shannon Elizabeth, and Bret Harrison, coming out April 25th. The film is about Alex Stillman (Harrison), a student at Yale University, who dreams of becoming a poker professional. Alex meets retired legend Tommy Vinson (Reynolds), who comes out of retirement and helps Alex. With Tommy supplying the bankroll and Alex hitting his stride, they start to progress in the poker world. But when Alex meets Las Vegas prostitute Michelle (Shannon Elizabeth), Tommy decides to part ways with Alex, because he believes Michelle is adversely affecting Alex's game. The climax of the film comes when Alex and Tommy battle it out at the final table of the World Poker Tour championship event, which was actually filmed on the WPT set with the action called by WPT hosts Vince Van Patten and Mike Sexton. The film also features cameo appearances by several members of Team PokerStars Pro. Look out for World Series champions Joe Hachem and Greg Raymer, both playing event commentators. Isabelle Mercier is one of the pro players that Alex finds himself up against at the final table. There is also an appearance by Chris Moneymaker, who is interviewed in the film. Scott Lazar, who made the final table of the World Series of Poker main event in 2006, finishing sixth and winning $1.5 million, is the movie's producer and also acted as a poker consultant. The Deal is scheduled to be released in select theatres April 25th.
