PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour Adds Argentina To Schedule

by PokerPages.com
Tue, Feb 10th, 2009 @ 12:00am

It has been announced that the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) has added on last stop on the Season II schedule.

The LAPT will now wrap it's second run in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Casino Central will play host to as many as 600 entries, from April 16-19, each placing $5,200 on the line for a shot a what should be the richest LAPT prize pool to date and the right to be the Grand Final champion.

To start the year, four events were on the schedule. Season II kicked off back in November of 2008, with American Ryan Fee oulasting 313 others in San Jose, Costa Rica. December saw the LAPT roll into Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, only to see it shut down by gaming authorities. And Fabian Ortiz of Argentina became the LAPT's first-ever Latin American champion after conquering a field of 216 in Vina del Mar, Chile, last month.

There is still one more event before the new Grand Final in Argentina, the $3,700 buy-in event in Punta del Este, Uruguay. From March 18-20, the LAPT will hit the Mantra Resort Spa Casino with a cap of 500 entries. Last year, Spain's Jose Miguel Espinar outlasted 350 others and would leave Uruguay $241,735 richer.

Argentina just became the latest on a now long list of PokerStars live event locations. Just days ago, the newly unveiled PokerStars Australian New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) wrapped its first live event in Adelaide, South Australia. A few days prior, the PokerStars Russian Poker Tour (RPT) mades its debut with an event in St. Petersburg. The ANZPT and RPT, joined the LAPT and sister-sites the European Poker Tour (EPT) and the Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) in the PokerStars stable.
