Policy Expert Drew Lesofski Joins Poker Players Alliance

by PokerPages.com
Mon, Mar 10th, 2008 @ 12:00am

The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) formally announced today that Drew Lesofski, former senior federal policy adviser from Washington DC, has joined the organization as director of Grassroots and External Affairs.

Lesofski comes on board as the organization continues to gain ground in its effort to protect the rights of individuals to enjoy the American tradition of poker, both online and offline, as well as advocate for regulation of the industry. With its growing and enthusiastic membership base, PPA says they are the strongest voice for the poker players in Washington, D.C., and the states.

"As we get closer to reaching the million-member milestone, it is more important than ever for PPA to find new ways to energize and mobilize our members," said Alfonse D'Amato, Chairman of the PPA. "Drew's policy and political campaign experience will be an asset to PPA as we further refine and augment our grassroots program."

Lesofski joined PPA from the Washington, D.C., office of Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons where he served as the senior federal policy advisory. In this role, Lesofski handled a diverse portfolio of issues ranging from immigration and healthcare to education and gaming.

Prior to his tenure in Governor Gibbons' office, Lesofski was part of the Department of Health and Human Services where he was part of a team focused on Native American grant programs. At the same time, Lesofski volunteered on a number of local, state and federal campaigns, where he gained insight into on the ground political and grassroots operations. Lesofski began his career as a policy aide in the Washington State legislature as well as in the U.S. Department of Education.

"Drew's experience has given him a solid understanding of the relationship between states and the federal government and the skills necessary to organize and manage multifaceted grassroots operations. We look forward to having him as part of our team," continued D'Amato.
