World Series of Poker Circuit Harvey's Tahoe Final Results

Michael Binger wins Harvey's WSOP Circuit Championship

The final table of the Harvey's Lake Tahoe WSOP Circuit Championship was heavily loaded with poker power. Professional poker player Michael Binger held the chip lead. Michael's 3rd place finish in the 2006 WSOP main event earned him over $4 million, but he had yet to earn any WSOP bling. Allen Kessler, another pro with over $1 million in earnings, was in the middle of the pack at the start of the day while Scott Clements, a professional player with two WSOP bracelets and a WPT title, was the short stack.

When play got underway, it did not take long for Scott to get his few chips in the middle -- it was only the third hand when he ran into Ty Stewart's flopped straight. Scott reported to the rail in 9th place.

Travis Erdman is a casual player with an incredible accomplishment -- he has made the final table of this event each of the last three years. In 2006, he finished 5th. In 2007, he finished 9th, and this year he added a 7th place finish to his poker resume. Travis is a resident of San Francisco, but Tahoe must be his favorite poker venue.

Allen 'Chainsaw' Kessler ran into Ty Stewart's buzzsaw. Ty moved in with pocket 7s, only to run into Allen's pocket Aces. It looked like the Chainsaw was headed for a double-up, but Ty caught a third 7 on the river for the jackpot, cutting the Chainsaw in 6th place. That hand also propelled Ty Stewart into the chip lead ahead of Michael Binger.

After dispatching the other players, it came down to a tough heads-up match between Ty, who had the chip lead, and Michael, who had the experience. They battled for 79 hands over two hours. At one point Michael was down to only 200,000 chips to Ty's 1.7 million, but he never gave up. Michael picked off a couple of bluffs and took the chip lead back around hand 65. From that point on he dominated the match.

The final hand saw Ty moving in after flopping second pair, only to find that Michael had flopped top pair. That was all it took to wrap it up and Michael Binger now has his first WSOP Circuit Championship and the bling that goes with it -- not to mention over $181,000! He also gets a paid seat in the 2009 WSOP Main Event.
