World Series of Poker Event #11, Anthony Harb WinsMon, Jun 8th, 2009 @ 12:00am Last year Matt Keikoan won the first $2,000 No Limit Hold'em event at the 2008 World Series of Poker. He overcame his final table challengers which included WSOP bracelet holder and WPT Player of the year, J.C. Tran. Keikoan outlasted 1,591 challengers and earned $550,529. This year the tournament attracted 1,646 participants and Anthony Harb of Michigan was the last man standing. He bested the likes of Phil Hellmuth, Tom McEvoy, and T.J. Cloutier on his way to the winner's circle. Harb won $569,199 for three days work. Harb and second place finisher Peter Rho, who came in second in the 2009 Aussie Millions Championship, began the tournament at the same table. Coincidentally, they would finish at the same table battling it out for the bracelet and the first place prize money. Rho, again a runner-up, took home $350,019 for his efforts. Fifth place finisher Jonathan McGowan who is a cash game specialist walked away with $116,833 from this tournament and nice addition to his bankroll. Adam Adler was eliminated in fourth place worth $161,768, when his KQ couldn’t catch up with Harb's AQ. Finally, Jim Geary a scrappy player on the short stack for most of his time at the final table took home $230,670 for third place. Geary was knocked out when his Ace was outkicked by eventual champion Harb's Ace. Twenty-ninth place finisher Phil Hellmuth Jr. was unsuccessful in his pursuit to extend his record for WSOP bracelets to 12. Despite the deep run he was unable to find the right combination of cards and luck. He still walked away with $12,761. Hellmuth did 'treat' those in attendance to some standard 'Poker Brat' behavior leaving the tournament room with a standard Phil Hellmuth tantrum.
