World Series of Poker Event 47: Bahador Ahmadi WinsSat, Jun 27th, 2009 @ 12:00am Bahador Ahmadi is having an amazing Series. After finishing 4th in his first WSOP cash at the beginning of June, he is now the owner of a $2,500 Mixed Hold'em World Series bracelet. He had to outlast a field of 527 and an extremely difficult final table in order to claim the title. Barry Greenstein finished Day 1 as the chip leader, followed by Hasan Habib. Ahmadi was 4th in chips, and all three made it to the final table. Eli Elezra, Daniel Negreanu, Amnon Filippi, and Andy Bloch were in the top 15 as well, but all of them finished short of Day 3, freeing them to start the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event. Zac Humphrey began the final table as the short stack and was the first to make his exit. Barry Greenstein took out fellow bracelet-winner Hasan Habib next, ending Habib's chance to improve on his 5th place finish earlier in the Series. Greenstein continued his hot streak by eliminating Randy Haddox in 7th place. Matt Woodward, who started the Series fresh from his runner-up finish at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, busted in 6th when he had an unfortunate run in with Bahador Amhadi's pocket Aces. Barry Greenstein went out next, finishing in 5th at his 2nd final table of 2009. Karlo Lopez began the day as chip leader and hoped that this was his chance to avenge his 4th place finish in a Limit Hold'em event in 2006. Instead, Lopez found himself out in 4th once again. After Lopez busted, former 'November Niner' Ylon Schwartz was the chip leader facing John McGuiness and short stack Bahador Ahmadi. But Ahmadi refused to give in. He returned from dinner with a new attitude, and when the final three switched to the Limit portion of the round, Bahador caught fire. He ground his opponents down and eventually sent Schwartz home in 3rd place. Then, on the first hand of heads up play, he hit his flush draw to eliminate McGuiness and secure his victory. McGuiness picks up $172,227 for 2nd place in his first WSOP cash. Bahador adds $278,104 to his 2009 haul. For full final table coverage click here.
