World Series of Poker Event 50: Greg 'FBT' Mueller Wins 2nd '09 BraceletMon, Jun 29th, 2009 @ 12:00am The $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout should put to rest any questions about the skill required to play Limit. By the time the event was down to two players, it was a heads up match between the owners of the last two Limit bracelets awarded at the WSOP. Greg 'FBT' Mueller defeated Marc Naalden to win his second bracelet of the year, making him the fourth person to claim more than one in 2009. Naalden now has 1st and 2nd place finishes in Limit tournaments this year. He also cashed in a Mixed Hold'em event. Since this event was a shootout, all of the members of the final table had won two tables to make it to Day 3. Jean-Robert Bellande, last year's runner-up, won his first round but finished just short of the final table. Brock Parker, Dan Heimiller, and Humberto Brenes also made it to the second round. Jose Barbero was the first to be eliminated from the eight-handed final table. The member of Team PokerStars Argentina picked up his first cash of the Series after airballing 17 previous events. There was a pause of several hours while no one busted, and then just before the dinner break, Team PokerStars Holland member Joep Van Den Bijgaart made his exit. Italian Flaminio Malaguti departed shortly after dinner, and then the action really began. Matt Sterling, Millie Shiu, and David Williams were eliminated in under half an hour. The final table began with three bracelet winners, who finished 1, 2, and 3. Williams' bust left Mueller and Naalden heads up, and Greg began with a large chip lead. Naalden battled back and even took over the lead at one point, much to the delight of the incredibly enthusiastic Dutch rail. The two experienced Limit players traded chips back and forth for an hour, but eventually Mueller developed a commanding lead and busted Naalden to clinch his second bracelet. He earns $194,909 for his 7th WSOP final table appearance. After winning both the $10,000 Limit Hold'em World Championship and the $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout, Mueller is the undisputed Limit king. Naalden will have to settle for runner-up, $120,614, and the adoration of the Dutch poker community. Full final table coverage can be found by clicking here.
