World Series of Poker July 5 Review, Preview of Sunday July 6 (Day 37)Sun, Jul 6th, 2008 @ 12:00am The third Day 1 of the Main Event of the World Series of Poker is in the books, and 1,928 entrants joined the madness, making it the largest Day 1 so far. Huck Seed, J.C. Tran, and even Larry Flynt showed up, only to have their Main Event hopes dashed. But David Singer, Chris Moneymaker, Liz Lieu, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow made it to Day 2B along with another 1,000 players. Norwegian player Henning Granstad finished the night as chip leader for all three days with 249,950 in chips. They'll all be back at noon on Wednesday, July 9th when they will be joined by the Day 1D survivors. The number of players remaining from the initial 1,928 players who registered for Day1C is 1,026. This means 53 percent of Day1C's field survived. So far the combined number of survivors from Day 1-A, 1-B, and 1-C is 2,277. This means that 52 percent of the starting field have survived. Sandman to Gov Beshear: Regulate Online Poker & Internet Gambling Sites Jeffrey Sandman, spokesperson for the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative, issued a statement that appeals to Kentucky Governor Steve Beshar to stop the court case to seize 141 online gambling domain names (including those for major online poker sites as Bodog, CakePoker, Full Tilt Poker, Ultimate Bet, and PokerStars). Instead, the governor is encouraged to support legislation to regulate and tax Internet Gambling, which would extend the way he now supports state residents' rights to bet on horse racing online and in casinos, and would address concerns regarding minors and problem gamblers.

Judge to Rule Oct 15 on Kentucky Online Poker Domain Seizure After hearing arguments in a Franklin County courtroom yesterday from both sides regarding Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear's directive to seize 141 online gambling domains, including such major online poker sites as Bodog, CakePoker, Full Tilt Poker, Ultimate Bet, and PokerStars, Judge Thomas Wingate stated that he needs one week to review both sides of the case, so he plans to announce his final historic ruling on October 15th.
